The guy's been inactive for over a year. I still think he one of the best (American) heavyweights, and attribute his loss to Chambers to coming in overweight. Does anyone know what's goind on with this guy?
He had a serious eye injury, and if I remember correctly, he lost some vision in one of his eyes after surgery. I think the injury stemmed from the Eddie Chambers fight.
Yup this is what happened. He can no longer fight. At least he has an education and other things to fall back on as he was (or is) the boxing banker.
Either way it demonstrates that these guys put their health & sometimes life on the line when they go into the ring to fight. It also shows that you should always have something other than boxing to fall back on & Calvin Brock, as well as the Klitschkos and others have the intelligence to know they shouldn't put all their eggs in the one basket known as boxing.
Poor Calvin...a very likable guy in and out of the ring. A very class act...both he and his father. I hope for a miracle for Calvin and his family. God Bless, Calvin!!
Good fighter too. He landed more against Wladimir than virtually any of his previous opponents sine WK won the belt.
Hopefully he makes it alright, I had no idea he had eye surgery. I wish he could still box but his health is the most important thing.
That's unfortunate. HBO should look at using him for commentary on BAD; couldn't be any worse than Merchant, Kellerman, or Lewis.
Yep. Brock actually gave Wlad a little trouble for a round or two which is much more than anyone since the Peter fight can say. Brock was a likable guy.
Probably one of the better things that happened to him was the eye injury. The guy made a good sack of money in boxing and was able to retire with his health. On top of that, he gave the best HW in recent times one of his harder fights...he's the only fighter I've seen actually confuse Wlad.
Well I think Tony Thompson gave Wlad the most trouble since Peters. Thompson was in that fight until he gassed in the later rds.
