Just a question that came to mind when comparing heavyweights of today vs. heavyweights of past eras. It seems that heavyweights were quite smaller but I'm interested in seeing how tall are the tallest and in which era they fought. For one, I know for a fact who the #1 is:

    1. Nikolai Valuev (present)

    Who are the other 9?

Julius Long, at 7'1", is taller than Valuev. Kaspars Kambala was 6'10" or so. Tye Fields is about 6'9". There was some Danish guy a while back who was 7'2" who was talking about going pro, but I don't know if that happened.

Of non-heavyweights, Kendall Gill is the tallest one I can think of. After he retired from basketball, he took up boxing for a little while, fighting as a 6'8" cruiserweight.

Wow, you're right. Although he also fights in other fighting sports, he did fight in boxing (got hs butt beaten via TKO in round 1 vs. Sam Peter).

He also fought Valuev, which was probably the tallest fight ever.

Man. This guy is huge. Found a clip of him on Youtube.

Why does it seem that all giants (except Valeuv) get TKO'd in round 1?

    So far we've got:

    1. Gogeo Mitu (7'11")
    2. John Rankin (7'4")
    3. Jim Cully (7'2")
    4. Julius Long (7'1")
    5. Nicolai Valuev (7'0")
    6. Kaspars Kambala (6'10")
    7. Tye Fields (6'9")
    8. Lance Whitaker (6'8")
    9. Vitali Klitschko (6'7")

I'm sure there are others taller than Vitali though that we're missing...
