I agree. He's got obvious pop and i was glad the guy didnt just get blown away. It just isnt "the hardest puncher in the LW division" type stuff that Team Khan claimed after it. Thats what i was refering to.
So? There is nothing to stop Prescott going to the body. Soto hammered him at super feather too. What's the excuse for that one? This Toledo guy has fought cans up until lately, and when he stepped it up he got his ass beaten up both times. For a big lightweight like Prescott, one that is supposed to be a big puncher...this really should have equated to a KO. It's not like he didn't connect. It looks worse and worse by the day for Khan. Looking back at the Abril fight where Prescott looked crude and unrefined. Now his power is not quite so impressive either.
FFs, i was just saying it was 2 bodyshots that did for him against Lamont, wasnt making excuses for him. I said earlier in the thread that Prescott didnt mix it up enough, he hardly went to the body at all, and he should have.
really worrying for khan, the 2 times not including khan where prescott has fought above the usual level of colombian taxi drivers he has failed to ko his opponent, last night he landed flush quite a few times, prescott is going nowhere in this division, NOWHERE
Also bear in mind that Prescott buckled Khan badly with his jab, even before he started unloading the power shots.
I haven't seen Prescott's last fight, but against Khan, he went in looking to get him out of there asap, so he went looking for huge powershots. Obviously, Khan has a bad chin, but that doesn't mean Prescott doesn't have very good power IF he's prepared to take a bit of a gamble and go for it, like he did against Khan. Do you agree? As to how good Prescott is, I don't see how the fact that he won his last fight convincingly by outpointing his opponent round after round makes him a bad fighter. Right? How good he is...another question, sure.:good
Good points Dec. I just think there's (a) getting caught cold with the opponent charging after you with all guns blazing, and (b) doing a silly jig after getting hit by the jab (ie: not a proper power shot). I just think it is very worrying that the jab should have such an impact on him, even if it is early on in the contest. In regards to Prescott; I'll wait and see. Haven't made up my mind about him yet.
We all know Khan's chin is fairly bad. We've known that for a while before Prescott got to him. Not sure why people go on about Prescott's power vis-a-vis how bad Khan's chin is. That's the only point I was making.
Yep, good point Dece. Prescott might well have made a concious decision to try and jump on Khan early because of the known chin issues.
It sure looked like that to me! This was his chance to make a big statement and he went all out. Makes sense. :good
