I thought Larry spanked Hopkins. I was like "WOW!" When he just said..."Aren't you embarassed by this?" Even Hopkins cringed.

Larry Merchant is more watchable than John Ruiz, I know that much.

It was a mandatory n Merchant was saying he shouldn't be fighting bums like that?!

Does Larry Merchant slag off Cotto for fighting Alfonso Gomez, Vitali for fighting Juan Carlos Gomez, etc, etc, etc.... Yes sometimes mandatory fights can be a bit tedious, but he cant go up to someone like Hopkins and say he shouldn't be fighting his mandatory fight.

Hopkins had justifications for doing what he was doing but let's all be honest about something: Hopkins wasted the best years of his career fighting nobodies. Larry, through his drunken haze, can still see that.

Merchant didn't own anything. It was actually the other way around. Hopkins was 100% right. Hakkar was a mando and there was no names at 160 back then all the big name fighters were at 154. **** Merchant drunk SOB.

    Thats what baffles me.
If he was Eddie Futch,Angelo Dundee,Ray Leonard or something, fine; He would have the credibility and credentials to say what he likes. However he is a nothing who has contributed nothing to the sport(broadcasters and writers are way,way down the list of reasons we fell in love with the sport:deal)yet some people venerate the drunken old fart like he's relevant and important.
    Very peculiar.

Merchant is an old senile fool. What the hell is he a legend for? Showing off how he does not know boxing so often? The guys messed up. This is old by the way considering is was posted a few weeks ago and your dumb ass got the title backwards. Bernard owned Merchant. Not the first time he's been made to look like a fool. He sets himself up for it. Bernard's the only legend in this interview.

Would I rather watch that interview or Baldomir vs Floyd Mayweather Jr? No brainer! It doesn't matter what credentials he has, or how relevant you or other people think he is - he asks the right questions, and is very entertaining when he does it. Fantastic.

  11. I don't know how you Americans put up with Merchant...... He is an idiot

"Ok..........errrrrrrr.......we.......have the winner errrrrrrr.......how.....did you .........errrrr did........in the....... errrrrrrr fight."

Meanwhile the boxer has just fallen asleep.

I always remember how we used to treat and call Lennox's fights and I have always hated him from there.

    Errrrrrrrr........Lennox.........errrrr you won the........eeerrrrr fight.......but Vitali.......errrrrr.....got the errrrrrr......moral victory....eerrrrrr

Do you really think its difficult and edgy to be annoying and give fighters a hard time after they have been in a fight?
    Why is that so wonderful?
    A ****** could do that.
He is actually paid to just sit there in a drunken stupor watching a fight, then get in the ring and be an obnoxious, and that makes him a 'legend' to you?
Your standards and criteria of a persons legendary status are desperately low.
