For those interested and for ease of reference should some dickweed question my motives for insulting the legacy and capabilities of Amir Khan...

I do not personally dislike Khan, I think he is a tremendous fighter and a very special talent. He has a poor chin and cannot fight effectively on the inside although his handspeed and movement allow him to land effectively when engaged at close range against domestic opposition.

His power is generally under-rated. Perhaps his punches lack major stopping power but his speed allows him to register stoppages and at the end of the day the lad has scored more knockdowns in his career then any other fighter I can think of coming through.

I have met Khan once and thought he was a real nice lad and when he fought in the ABA's I made the trip to preston to watch his fights with craig Watson etc....

Some of his asian fans that night were a disgrace, as were some of the mancunians who began chanting racist obsenities...

Khans has brought new fans to he sport due largely to his ethnicity, and while I don't nessecarily think thats a bad thing, I don't like the things that they post on websites and youtube about fighters who deserve a heck of a lot more respect then a newb would realise.

My recent supportings of Khans opponents may invoke the idea that anyone Khan fights -i support.

To give you a bit of a breakdown:-

Barrera- One of my fave ever fighters.... i spent more time trying to fight a bit like him more then anyone else. His heart and skill makes him, for me one of the greatest mexicans of all time.

***an- A former opponent and a good friend who I still talk to very often... Of course i'm going to support him.

Gomez- A personal friend?? No brainer.

Danny Thorpe- Former opponent and a cracking fella who I have a good chat with everytime I see... I was on the fence for this one.

I supported Khan through all his other bouts even Wullie Limmond because at the time I didn' know Wullie all that well but having met him since and spoken to him its safe to say I would have been cheering him on if that hd of taken place after our conversations.

Khans record is incredibly impressive for a 22 year old... I thought the St Clair, Kristjansen, Prescott, Medjadji, Drilzane, Komjathi and Martynov were a complete waste of time. The opposition either falling into the has been or never will be status... St Clair in particular been an utter let down. But to be honest his title was largely of the paper variety.

I think Khan has the potential to be a titlist, but his career is likely to run in parrelel with a world class version of Scrap Iron Ryan.... Someone who was always just one mistake from defeat. It would be unsuprising for anyone to get lucky agaisnt him at any stage... What does that make him? A fake? A fraud? The evil love child of Frank Warren and Dr Evil? No it makes him virtually must-watch in every fight he has, so long as the opposition is credible and the matches are of the intelligent and career building variety...

Khan has improved under Roach and his little helpers. He beat the tough ***an incredibly easily, in a manner that a 'world class' fighter should. And watching the brief clips and hearing snippets from Gomez and Kev Maree reguarding their sparring it seems obvious that the switch has allowed him to move in a direction he is more comfortable with.

His teams treatment of the fairly brilliant oliver harrison was a disgrace. I know most of the ins and outs of what transpired and it was pretty tasteless, but Harrisons a good guy and thats why its never come to light.

I don't blame Khan for that and if he were fighting nearly any other former champion then I would have no problems cheering him on in march but when your fighting my idol i'm always going to back Barrera... Same if it was Gatti, Gomez, Limmond, Murray...

Hope his sorts out my position.... haterz:good
