I would expect that type of ****ed up comment in the general forum, but not here. :-( Bricks FFS

Cotto is one of my favourite fighters at the moment, but I do recognise his shortcomings...and these were highlighted in his fight against Margo, dampened wraps or not.

A win for Jennings would be absolutely fantastic, and I will be rooting for him, I just don't see it happening, going the full 12 will be a win for Michael. If he did manage to pull off the win then it would just be one great and unlikely win on his record, p4p rankings on the other hand are based on an assesment of a body of work as a whole rather than a one off win.

Padding your hands is actually more likely to make the effects of your punches less dangerous...we should be concerned with fighters taking **** out of their gloves, that has more of an effect

Dependent on what rumours you choose to believe there are varying things Margarito 'allegedly' had in his gloves. The one I read about the actual investigation was that Margarito had a hard plate one inch by four inches found in his glove.

Fits the description of the pad I'd read about then. Where did you get this picture Gaz? Of course the thing we don't get from this picture is the solidity and weight. If these things are rigid then it would undoubtedly give you extra 'pop' in your punches.

Guess we'll know more once the investigation is concluded. Anyone know when that's likely to be?

The pic is from the LA Times. As you say the picture doesn't answer density, solidity etc questions but at least it should put all the cement etc bollocks to rest and the fact it looks so "ordinary" could well mean that either Margo wasn't aware they were illegal and/or that they didn't nessarcerrily (sp) confer any advantage when in use.

The "results" are due out the middle of March IIRC but the way its been handled so far doesn't really inspire confidence IMHO.

In what way do you think it's been handled badly?

Mainly the amount of speculation that was allowed to fester as a result of the CASC not stating why Margarito was suspended or exactly what type of "loading" we were taking about from the start. Are we talking a technical mistake that made in the material chosen for the wraps or a malicious act designed to damage an opponent? I know (hope) some of these questions will be answered when the investigation reports back but I think more information could have been released to prevent the witchhunt that Margarito has had to endure. He is supposed to be innocent until proven guity.

If those wraps are illegal but give no advantage in a fight then Margo should serve his ban (ignorance of the law is no defence) but I don't think all his other wins should be called into question because of a genuine mistake that he may not even have been aware his trainer was making.

I see what you mean but isn't also a bad idea to release too much information about an ongoing investigation? Difficult one I guess.

Thats true, but we were hearing talk of a plaster like powder falling off the material. I think they could have released a short statement broadly outlining what they were dealing with instead of immediately suspending Margarito without due process and letting the rumour mill add 2 + 2 and get 7 because of that and people assuming Margo was suspended because plaster was found.
