Don't get me wrong old chap. I'm in no way disregarding what Lloyd did against Curry. I just feel that Ken's achievements against Lugano were that much better. Lloyd against Curry without a doubt stands the test of time and is an ATG upset.

No, it was Horace Shufford he beat to get the number 1 spot. I remember the fight, Shufford kept spitting on the floor in between exchanges, harry Carpenter wasn't impressed!!
Of course Laing stayed to form and disappeared for a year post Duran! After the two Jones bouts it was pretty obvious (without hindsight) Laing was always going to find a way to lose the big bouts, which shows you how bad late 82 Duran was!!!
Duran was 74-3 (Beaten only by Leonard/Benitez/De Jesus) when Laing beat him and Duran came back in '83 to beat Cuevas, Moore(Light Middleweight Title) and push Hagler all the way in a Middlewieght Title bout. I would consider it a great British win.
