So Pavlik's camp now talk about Pavlik-Hopkins II?

What must happen for people to realize that KP-AA won't come off? Pavlik's camp knows damn well that the Hopkins rematch would never happen, they just use it as an distraction from a possible unification.
Maybe it is not Pavlik, but his camp that is running scared. Now he needs another tune-up in Duddy? Why?

 

In the post fight interview Pavlik reeled off a list of names: Duddy, Mundine, Sturm, Abraham. Are you deaf, or are you just talking out your ass?

 

That's what Pavlik says, but big Bob already confirmed that Duddy's the one they're looking at most seriously.

I think Pavlik Hopkins II is a risk. Bronchitis, elbow injury and being dead at the weight excuses aside, Pavlik didn't look well-suited to Hopkins in that fight. They'd take him a bit more seriously in a rematch, but it's still a bad stylistic match-up.

If he lost a second time, that would be devastating for his career. Despite the fact that plenty of Grade A fighters have lost to Bernard Hopkins, this would certianly crush any notion of Pavlik being a HoFer until he swept up AA, Kessler and probably Dawson.

Contrary to what Buncey said last night, I can't see that fight happening. The Pavlik camp won't want to go up to LHW, and B-Hop won't sink all the way down to MW. If Pavlik moves up a weight it's a possibility, but B-Hop will probably be gone by then. There'd have to be serious $$$$ going on to get those guys back in the ring.

As a Pavlik fan, I hope he doesn't fight Duddy. I don't want to have to build up for another 4 months just to see him smoke some B-Class fighter like last night. He needs to ignore the money for a bit, stop being greedy and put pressure on AA and Sturm to fight. Sweep up at MW, then move up and start stalking Kessler.

Arum is very locked into milking Pavlik for all he's worth economically. Pavlik vs Duddy is the fight we'll get.

I have no doubt Pavlik, Sturm and Abraham WANT to fight one another. Problem is Arum is cockblocking and Sturm's people have insane demands.

So be happy with yer Sturm vs Sato, Pavlik vs John Duddy/Sergio Mora types and Abraham vs random mid level guy fights. We'll be gettin em for a while.

 

Exactly. Jesus, promoters **** me off. Pavlik's in his prime, he needs to be sweeping up while he can. But no, Arum would rather go through the four-month-promotion circus act and cash in on a yawnfest in Boston against Duddy. And now Pavlik's started agreeing. The corruption knows no bounds.

 

I don't know why Arum wouldn't go for Abraham.

Granted, he is very tough and a great champion, but if he let him fight Hopkins, he should let him fight Abraham.

I think this is a risk you would have to take.

Well Hopkins wasn't exactly the first option either. The original choice was (once again) Mandatory challenger Marco Antonio Rubio...then when HBO said "Are you stupid?", they wanted (the OTHER name) John Duddy. Duddy had half of his face removed by Schmidget or w/e his name was and that was out of the question.

Hopkins was kind of the last option and mainly because they expected a big turn out economically. THAT blew up in their face as well.

 

He must mean Demtrius Hopkins, because BERNARD HOPKINS would smack him around again. Actually, if he was big enough, I think Demtrius could probably do it too.

 

They asked for a Hopkins rematch?, are they crazy?

The result remains the same if he fights Hopkins again and I won't be surprised if Hopkins knocks him out in a rematch. Pavlik just beat Rubio, a guy who BARELY beat Ornelas in his last fight in a seriously boring fight. If Pavlik wants redemption he should go for Abraham, we all know that Abraham is the hottest name in the Middleweight division right now and to score a win over him and hand him his first loss puts Pavlik back in the big picture with more support than he had before.

Of course, we all know that Abraham is no joke and the risk of Pavlik getting KO'd in this one is higher that's why they're probably ignoring it or postponing. Last I remember Arum was all for it, now he seems to be ignoring it.

 

LMAO he's not going to jump back up to 170 to fight Hopkins again. I really just can't see it happening. Plus, it looks like Pavlik's schedule is filled up for the rest of the year anyway and who knows if Hopkins will still be fighting next year.
