I feel Maxime knows better Bute and boxing in general than me. But I like Bute very very much. I like Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, I like guys who move well. With great handspeed and footspeed. Add to that power, charisma. Add again the fact that Bute learned to speak french and you have a big fan in me!

About his french you have to consider when he came to Canada he didn't know nothing,so hs started from zero.French ain't that hard but if you start from zero it's very hard to reach a high level.He still puts in some romanian words from here and there to fill in the gaps.
Interestingly he speaks good french but no english,while Diaconu speaks good english but no french(or at least I haven't heard him).

 

How good do you want/think he can speak it?
Once you reached a certain level you can't go higher.
And he improved a lot,look at his interviews aftr some fights in 2005(he didn't know anything,he needed a translator) and in 2007 and after when he speaks pretty good.He will never speak it as fluent as Chris Ganescu for example but it's good...

 

People in Quebec like the fact he tries, no matter if it's far to be perfect. He's still improving but more slowly, which is normal. His french is more fluid, much easier to understand. You know, the fact he speaks french is a proof he likes us.

 

Maxime is not a nuthugger that's for sure. I hope people will call me a nuthugger before him! But he defends Bute very well, with plain facts. He can do that because he knows very well all Bute's career. I remember once he wrote a long text on who was Lucian Bute, who he had defeated and why those wins were significant. That was so good that we should put it back for people who want to know Bute better.
