Raul Marquez=Mandatory. Very similar to Rubio.

There isn't much talent at 160. It's pretty much five guys right now. Abraham Pavlik, Williams, Sturm and Mundine. They should all be fighting each other and Abraham is clearly pushing to fight Pavlik. Likewise on Abraham wanting Sturm. Sturm has already kindly showed a case of vaginitis by turning down a big contract. I just hope Arum doesn't do the same.

This is a stupid thread - who the **** is Pavlik supposed to fight? Of course we all want to see Pavlik/Abraham but name me another middleweight available that is not smaller than Pavlik. The middleweight division is crap.Sturm wants no part of Pavlik or AA.The winner of winky/williams would be a viable option and mundine would be an acceptable alternative but other than that theres no one at 160 that would be competitive with Pavlik or Abraham.

And i do seem to remember Pavlik fighting Zuniga,Miranda and JT - all big middleweights and also Hopkins(light heavy)

Abraham wouldn't be the first guy who "pushed" for a Pavlik fight, and then had a whole different story when the rubber hit the road. Winky X 3, Calzaghe, Williams, Mora. He'd be the fifth.

With KP you have a guy who showed a steady progression in quality of opposition from October 2005-October 2008.

With AA you have a guy whose best wins are Miranda, and a faded version of Eastman. Zuniga VACATED the IBO title for a shot at AA that he got kinked out of. Sauerland chose Elvin Ayala. Do the math.

With Arum Pavlik should get better fights but the options still are minimal.
Abraham is the figth everyone wants to see at MW and while I think Arthur is a better fighter Pavlik is still the champ.

Pavlik's best wins are Taylor AND Miranda. Now if your argument is whose got the better resume then obviously Pavlik does...but at the same time, I'd venture to say Miranda had a better resume than Pavlik when they fought and who won that? Pavlik did.

Resume has nothing to do with who wins what or who DESERVES the fight either. Both guys should fight each other. Simple as.

If ya ask me, it's pretty simple. Pavlik should be fight Abraham, Sturm or Mundine. In fact all 4 of those guys should be fighting one another. When we were losign track of MW champs a while ago, Don King arranged a great tournament which crowned Bernard Hopkins as the king of 160.

What's wrong with ANYONE wanting to see the 4 best going at it?

I agree. Bob Arum's clearly twisting Pavlik for his own purposes, looking to keep him fighting cupcakes with mediocre purses and minimal risk. Promoters really **** me off. Let Pavlik off the God damn leash and let him fight the best. He's reaching his prime, there's no time to waste.

I agree that Pavlik, Abraham, Mundine, and the winner of Winky/Williams should all fight each other. However, I think you missed my point. Let's see if I can articulate it a bit better. Pavlik's career path shows a steady trajectory toward better and better opposition.

Abraham has not risen above what Pavlik did in 2005. Zuniga is a better win than Miranda. Perhaps we did not know that in '05-'07, but we certainly know it now. In March of '08 Sauerland screwed Zuniga and gave the fight to Ayala. They had the chance to beat another Pavlik opponent, and passed it up in favor of a guy whose big claim to fame was a draw with Mora. Apart from Miranda, Sauerland has spoon fed AA a steady diet of small middleweights with low KO ratios, and little world class experience.

The accusations of ducking that keep flying at Team Pavlik and Top Rank are preposterous. Between October 2005 and October 2008 Pavlik fought Zuniga, McKart, Zertuche, Miranda, Taylor X 2, chased hard after Calzaghe, and fought Hopkins. If we ignore the rhetoric from both sides of the pond, and let the record speak for itself, it's pretty clear that if there is any ducking going on, it ain't Top Rank or Team Pavlik.

His fight with Lockett was suppose to be a mando out of the way plus a storyline tie to Calzaghe that never picked up..

    Hopkins is not a bum.

And he was coming off a loss and fought Rubio. Not a bad choice.

Lets see who he fights next.

Zuniga is SO not a better win than Miranda. Didn't Zuniga lose to Frinkin Inkin of all people? Who got flopped by Balsay.

Abraham's opposition isn't great but neither is Pavlik unless you believe Zertuche, Zuniga, Bronko McKart and such are world beaters. At the same time, Raul Marquez, Gary Lockett, John Duddy, Marco Antonio Rubio, Elvin Ayala, Sato and Abraham's next can whose name escapes me don't exactly sound like title contenders worthy of a big fight. Sorry but they don't to me. The point is that the MW champions are feasting on nothings and resting on their weak and unappealing laurels.

There are no world beaters at 160....just 4 good champions who apparently will never fight each other.

Zuniga took the Inkin fight on 2 weeks notice. He would spark miranda mid rounds, of that I have NO doubt.

Boo, it's so obvious that you rate Zuniga so high because he fought your guy, and because he knocked down your guy, that it isn't even funny. Zuniga's 'big breakout' was the stoppage of overhyped puncher Oganov, Fulgenicio lost to the next world class fighter after Pavlik (Inkin), and will lose to Bute by TKO, without knocking down the Romanian, with full preparation. Solid win, but for an ex-154-er, Kofi Jantuah is much more solid with KOs over Rubio (1st round) and Daniel Santos. So up to the Miranda fight, the 'solid' fights were the pretty much unknown Zertuche and very much over the hill, never so great LMW McKart and the solid, but not Kofi solid Zuniga. The breakthrough was obviously Miranda.

Now here's the million dollar question:

I wish that Pavlik-Abraham would happen this year, but would't mind if Kelly fought John Duddy before.

Abraham, Willaims/Winky winner, or at the very least Felix Sturm, should be2 of this next three opponents. Duddy as a soft touch will be fun while it lasts.
