I 2nd that brother. He's getting a lot of hate because of the B-hop fight but I expected that fight to go the way it went. Kelly has skills but he got used to being able to over-power everyone. The loss is good for him cause to me I see he's been working on his technique. At least I thought it looked that way. He's not gonna end up like Jeff Lacy although some will try and tell ya so.

Well, Rubio had a pretty good defense for a while. He was not getting landed on flush all that much. Look at the final punch stats. % was pretty low. Kelly did leave himself open for counters, but Rubio couldn't pull the trigger. Not something I expect from AA. However, a big part of what Kelly did was control range when Rubio was on the ropes and punished him using his reach advantage. That grows bigger against AA.

lol, let's be honest. Neither guy is likey "afraid" of the other. It would be a great fight but I think Kelly takes him out.

Yeah and I think it was obvious in the 6th Kelly knew Rubio had no pop. the way he just smiled at him! lol....Kelly did slip punches though..when you ever see him do that...really..

Amazing how this look much different in the arena. Rubio sent sweat and spit flying from Pavlik and Pavlik looked hurt. Pipe was 6 rows back looking square on at Kelly when it happened. Looked the same to him I think. At that point, Rubio was throwing some shots that looked like they would do damage if landed. There were times I could see on the screens he looked a little slumped in his corner. The only time I thought he looked truely defeated was at the very end of round 9. But since he was already in his corner, no 'walk back' to judge from.

I was fortunate enough to attend the fight with press pass because of a Boxing/MMA Internet Radio Show my friend and I host on BlogTalkRadio. Sat five rows from the ring. Simply put, Pavlik executed his game plan very well, and Rubio didn't really seem to have one. He showed a lot of heart and a decent chin, but his offense was non-existent. I did have him winning the 6th round though. The main improvement I saw with Kelly was his consistent body work, which will be necessary if he hopes to beat AA. As for "not wanting to fight AA" I attend the post fight press conference and there were several questions about AA. I believe Pavlik wants to fight him, and I think Arum wants to make the fight. The problems they are going to face with making the fight are the same problems that typically occur between any US and European fighter. AA wants the fight in Germany, which Pavlik would be stupid to accept. Arum wants the fight in the US, for which AA's folks currently want too much money. Plus, AA doesn't have a huge name in the US so it is really a lose lose for Kelly. I think the fight will ultimately be made and I think it's a toss-up fight, but it may not occur until '10, unless AA's people accept less money to fight in the US or AA can win one or two quality fights in the US to establish more of a name here. He's a bad dude, though, and would give Kelly a hell of a fight.

This talk of Kelly being afraid of Abraham or not wanting the fight is laughable. I ask again who has Abraham fought? Miranda is the only real opponent other than European tomato cans he has faced and Miranda is nothing special. He broke Abrahams jaw and still could have won even with all the point deductions, but it was in Germany of course. I seem to remember Pavlik only needing half-a-fight to destroy Miranda and having fought actual world class opponents unlike Abraham. It does not mean Abraham is not a good fighter, but doing what he has done, against who he's has done it against is one thing, as opposed to doing it on an elite level.

Abraham's defence is overrated at this point. He is not a guy that has some amazing ability to slip punches or give a lot of angles, just has a turtle shell defence. Will that hold up against someone like Pavlik? We shall see, but what the fight really depends on is if AA can still make 160 for a few more fights. He's a SMW still trying to make 160. Paul Williams or Winky Wright are both better, and more of a threat to Pavlik.

Sure. Bute's vulnerability to be KTFO has been shown now and don't be shocked if Zuniga does it.
