Huge credit. A win over AA would mean a successful unification, a win over clear #1 contender to his World Middleweight Title, a win that would put his career back on track and name on the P4P10, and a win over Abraham himself: the exceptionally powerful, unbeaten IBF champion, a name would look very very good on Kelly's resume, and a name the public demanded for Pavlik.

That you watched his fights and drew certain conclusions is no reason to suppose that there is anything amiss with MrMagic's post.

You have shown a marked bias towards Pavlik that many fell is unwarranted and a marked bias against AA (and pretty much all Euro fighters) that is equally, if not more unwarranted.

And why wouldn't MrMagic compare AA to Winky Wright ?

    Has Winky become deified ?

When Winky was at the same stage of his career as AA is now, he had no stellar names and some losses.

IMO, if Winky hasn't aged too much, he should be able to win a UD over AA, but that doesn't mean comparisons, especially in regard to their defensive postures, are unreasonable.

That old man himself lost in his first pro fight to a nobody and became one of the greats himself. Why is a setback the same as the loss of any chance to become great? Hopkins marched into greatness at age 36. Hagler was still a contender, not even champion at Pavlik's age. While I feel that Abraham could KO Pavlik, I don't see why Pavlik could not go on to achieve greatness.

  5. He will get a lot of credit.

Beating Arthur Abraham should prove very difficult.

Yes, Pavlik will get the credit. I actually favor AA to beat Pavlik in their head to head fight.

Haters will never give credit to the fighters they despise. :yep

    If Pavlik beats Abraham . . . AA is not 100 % . . . is struggling with his weight . . . is being bothered by problems . . . didn't train because he under estimated Pavlik . . . the judges are corrupt and are PRO Pavlik . . . . . . the ref was incompetent . . . was secretly injured during training . . . was drugged . . . etc etc etc

    :deal

People are being silly. He's a quality fighter, P4P and the linear middleweight champ. If he beats AA though, it will restore a decent amount of the mystique.

  14. Arthur Abraham is a very tough fighter. He is universally regarded as the number 2 middleweight in the world behind Kelly Pavlik. He is also an unbeaten champion with a high KO ratio and is recognised as being a tough son of a *****, especially after his fights with Edison Miranda.

If Pavlik beats Abraham he deserves a lot of credit.
