LOL at 2 votes already for "Pavlik stops him" What a joke. Pavlik couldn't even get Rubio out of there, and Rubio didn't even throw punches! He sure as **** doesn't have the defense Winky does. Pavlik would never stop Winky. EVER.
Im purely basing off what winky would be like now. He's old and been out of the ring for ages. A late KO is possible, depending on how fit winky would be.
wright by ud easy . pavlik is crap . overated and slow . no footwork and he is very 1 dimensional. he will be exposed agian as soon as he comes up against an elite fighter . the middlewieght divison is the worst in boxing . rubio was a disgrace didnt even try
Now probably Pavlik UD cuz Winky is done but he sure as hell ain't getting stopped. 2 years ago Winky schools him bad, type of schooling that Andrea Bocelli,Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles score it 120-108.
Asssuming Winky gets past Wiliams convincingly I want to se this fight. It's one of the best fights that could be made in '09. It pits a defensive master against an offensive machine. I voted "Pavlik stops him," but I would not expect a "knocked the **** out" type stoppage. Winky would stay behind his guard and work his jab while Pavlk beat on Winky's arms and shoulders, and tried to work the body. Very close fight for 7 or 8 rounds, but Winky finds out he can't hurt Kelly enough to slow him down. Kelly is to strong, to tough, and hits to hard for Wright. About 9 rounds in Father Time and Pavlik's work rate would start taking thier toll. The ref calls it in 11 because Winky is done. If Winky gets past Williams we will no that the man has still got his mojo, and this fight is bigger, and more important than Abraham.
So what? People have off nights you know. Just becuase he didn't KO him doesn't mean he doesn't have knockout power. Pavlik could ko an old ring rusty winky.. who lets not forget is a 154'r
At 160 Pavlik is a level above, for anyone to say that Hopkins' clinic on Pavlik has any influence on this fight is disillusioned. Pavlik had no speed or urgency that night. his power was either non existent or had no effect on the naturally bigger B-Hop. However, he has showed against Taylor, Rubi, Miranda et al. what he can do at 160.
If Pavlik never hurt JT in the rematch, explain the 11th and 12th rounds. If Pavlik never came close to putting Rubio down, explain why Rubio was crying on the stool. I've only read a few of your posts but I can already tell that my cocker spaniel knows more about boxing than you do.
Wright has the style that gives Pavlik bad dreams. But Hopkins out slicked Winky , and is bigger and stronger than Ronald, and Wright hasn't aged as well as 'Nard. So with the experience of 12 nightmarish rounds with Hopkins behind him, and Wright seeming to be a diminished version of Hopkins, and Kelly being the naturally bigger guy, Kellys chances don't seem so bad. I pick Pavlik by close, perhaps debateable decision.
