No Billy Graham, do you not think yourself he's looking sharper? If you watch some of Hatton's early fights you will see he is a superior boxer. In a way the worst thing that ever happened to him was the Zoo fight, as he discovered a horrible style that worked (well in some cases, not so well in others) and stuck with it until being check-hook/ringpost double-teamed. He looked like he was 21 again against Malignaggi, and long may it continue.
And what about Cotto :huh never been close to hurt i suppose http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iP-gRyWaB4 He was rocked by Maussa, Torres and had shaky moments against Paulie. add to that him quitting against Margo... says to me he is far from unbeatable
His conditioning was awful against Collazo. I could tell when he got into the ring that he didn't look right and was too heavy. From memory he was 160 on fight night. His performance against Floyd, although he lost, was superior to that one.
I think it looks like he was facing a guy that was featherfisted and had nothing to discourage him. It's easier to experiment and look improved against a guy that offered nothing. When I see the new and improved Hatton beat Pacquiao I'll be a believer he's truely added something better. As it is, he's had one good performance and one mediocre one against Lazcano where he was hurt and gassed. Let's see what happens from now. And thanks for the guy that posted videos of Cotto at 140. That was real interesting, but Cotto is at 147lbs and it has made a MARKED difference in his performances and durability. Why don't you post one of him beating Mosley, and I'll post you one of Hatton's two performances at this weight for comparative purposes.
Well if quiting in the ring is a MARKED improvement then :huh Honestly i don't mind Cotto, but i feel you overate him an underate Hatton.
cotto was ill suited to fighting at that weight. look at his fights with quintana, mosley and the first half of the margarito fight and there is a marked difference. hatton apologist are quick to point out that at 147 hatton loses his, so called, "advantages". hatton gets leathered badly by cotto.
Cotto is a superior fighter to Hatton, it is simple. I honestly don't know what people think Hatton is going to do to Cotto, and how Cotto losing to Margarito is an indication Hatton has a chance. What do you think Hatton would have done against Margarito?
I think if they met midway 143-144 it would be a fairly even match up, Cott's got some slick boxing skills for sure but Hatton would apply the pressure all night . Cotto can only dance from the blows for so long but he throws quick, powerful shots so danger for Ricky. Who has the better Chin bigger Heart? I'd say Hatton but it's pretty even.
If Hatton can sharpen his defence to the body I would put money on him to win..... if not I would abstain, for a change.
For the sake of everyones argument, Cotto was severely weight drained on all of these occasions...undeniable fact :deal It looks like Mr Primera got there with the excuses before I did :-(
He would have lost against Margo....... So what !! he is the much bigger man, thats why we have divisions in boxing.
What these people seem to think is that Hatton can just bully Cotto and beat him on the inside, because Margarito did. It is some of the most bizarre logic. Margarito walked through successions of huge counters from Cotto. These people think Hatton has shown the chin to do that when Collazo and Mayweather hurt him at welter? And what is the best they are hoping for on the inside when Hatton struggled with Collazo's strength and scampered back down to 140 professing its "me natural weight". That aside, Cotto is the superior technician by landslide and is easily the more powerful puncher. Cotto has him trumped in nearly every area. If this happens they are gonna be real surprised when Cotto backs Hatton up.
