It kinda does...If Cotto fights Clottey (someone similar to Winky) and beats the **** outta him via KO or one-sided UD...and Williams has trouble with a guy like that, you can begin to see how one adapts to the same style fighter. You would also see some strengths and weaknesses coming out of both fights win lose or draw...

I don't see this fight happening . . . but for the sake of discussion . . . Cotto by UD or possibly a KO via body punch.

I don't see Williams being succesful in boxing and fighting in the distance the whole 12 rounds. First 3 to 4 rounds maybe . . . but after that . . . Williams will already feel the effects of Cotto's body hook punches and will slow down. And when that happens? The start of the end for Williams.

    Cotto cut's the ring very well . . . don't forget that!

Thats not the point because the Miguel that fought AM isnt the same Cotto that we all know and began to love...he hardly threw bodyshots...this is why I said its important to see how he does with his future opponents.

I think Williams will be Williams...the same volume puncher that constantly gives up his bigest attributes so he can brawl on the inside.

But my curiousity lies within Cotto. If Cotto simply tries to outbox him via AM...then he'll lose or get KO'd legitimately...if he uses the proper gameplan and goes to the body. Paul will find himself in a whole world of trouble.

The difference between Paul and Margarito is that Margo IMO has the better chin. Much better. Paul's chin is highly overrated. Most of his opponents punches are not at full capacity because of his height. But no one has quite tested his body yet. And seeing as how he has to go all the way down, I don't think he'll fair well against the bodypunching Cotto...

Paul reacts horribly to pressure. Once Verno started landing those rights Williams backed off a bit. Malthysee lasted as long as he did because he pressured him a bit. Quintana got the UD because he pressured Paul. Margarito started coming back because he pressured him as well.

If Cotto doesnt fight off the backfoot and goes to the body. Paul can kiss his chances goodbye. If he does anything else...It'll be Williams' night all the way.

You think that Cotto will allow someone to duplicate his worst day of a career? Coto seems matured since Margo fight, i beliv that he is a better, stronger boxer now

Im not a Cotto fan that feels he's 100% back...but he showed that he hasn't lost anything from the loss...which is what I think most Cotto fans meant by the whole notion of "being back"

EDIT: Most fighters look like **** or not really the same after a loss of his nature...He fought Jennings and wiped the floor with that kid...Something the old Cotto would've done and something the current Cotto did. Hence all the "He's back" sentiments.

Good post, unfortunately, not all posters are saying that. A lot of Cotto fans are blowing the win out of portion. Lots of them were blessed when they found out AM cheated. I finally seen the fight, and yes I'm 100% sure he recovered physically & mentally. Cotto looked good and he's mentally back. Cotto is back. But before he lost to AM he was very overrated, hope the overrating doesn't come back.

Williams knocks Cotto out within 5 rounds ... I don't think that Cotto has learned anything ... he will go back to the same person that got stopped by Margarito, once he's put in that situation again.

He will probably never be able to escape that --

Especially in a stacked division like the welterweight division - he's a marked man and its only a matter of time before he's stopped again !!
