Where does Iran Barkley rate? ATG? HOF? Neither?

    How would you guys rate Iran Barkley's career. Fought some legends in his time ,but did not always win. Was the only man to beat Thomas Hearns two times. Is he an ATG or HOF or neither? On another thread Iran's name came up so I thought I would post this question. It is something I always thought about.

    Not even close to ATG..Not HOF in my book but there are guys in there with similar records.

    A very solid titlist who came in towards the end of an era of great fighters.

    He's like a Antonio Tarver type of fighter in this respect.

    if ken buchanan is in the hof iran barkely will get in he at least won titles in 3 weight classes

    I agree. Some excellent wins but not consistent, and does not have the longevity.

    The Tarver comparison was a good one. I agree. My thinking is he deserves to be in the HOF maybe -but barely-because he won 3 titles and fought 3 guys like Hearns/Duran/Toney and fought very good guys in Nunn,Benn- but Barkley being ATG no way. He did fight two ATGs though in Hearns and Duran.

    Well, if you have Hearns number, then you are certainly not a regular guy.

    He is certainly HOF. ATG is pushing it a little bit.

    He won titles from 160-175 and had memorable wars with Hearns and Duran.
