**** !!! This topic has been done to death bro !!! but just for the record, Cotto was fighting backing up which is not what he is normally used to doing and he allowed Margarito to get into a rhythm and the blood in the nose and mouth did not help matters. I dont even think he gassed I just think he just could not breathe properly towards the end. You could see him breaking down but the injury to the nose and not being able to suck in that oxygen played a big part in this fight.

It's not only a matter of styles, it's WHO has that style.

"Styles make fights" is perhaps the most over used term next to "exposed"...

yo what are you talking about...

ive never seen any one ask this question in the form that i have...

imo cotto fought beautifully... maybe the best half of a fight he has ever fought in his career.....and the pressure margarito was applying eventually just caught up to cotto...

Margarito was a terrible style matchup for Cotto.

I still don't get why he refuses to clinch, I remember that he said he will never clinch in a fight or something like that, must be his pride or something? :huh

Cotto believed he was this great boxer and believed his hype. He failed

Bad show on Cotto. Believed in his own hype of power. Refused to go to the body.

Thats what I've been saying all day. Cotto clearly believed in his hype. Getting new tattoo's during training, raising his right hand when he landed a nice hook, Cotto believed in his hype & he started to lose focus and the hunger a little bit. He claimed he couldn't go to the body.

He said he couldn't thats bull.

Margo is so open, if you can't hit his body, you either are horrrrrrrible or refuse to go to the body.

I think once he felt AM's punches, he wasn't willing to trade in order to land some(which many Cotto fans claimed his mentality was) and payed for it. If Cotto was this "GREAT BODY PUNCHER"(which all his fans were claiming, also stating thats why he would beat PBF) wouldn't he have a field day with a horrible defensive fighter like AM?

We'll see if they rematch.. I'd pick Cotto if he goes to the body.

I'll make my pick when the fight gets near. Depending on which fans are bugging me more will play a big part in m choice. Also, the plaster situation(check out my avatar for more details) plays even a bigger part.
