Im just saying that Clottey is obviously one of the best welterweights in the world, but he has never really gotten the chance to show it. Im not saying that he would have beaten margarito if not for his hands, im not even saying that he is for sure going to beat cotto. But he has (obviously) been underused by Top Rank and fighters (such as Cintron) who could get him some big fights in the future and pretty good paychecks aren't willing to fight him. Above all else, clottey comes to fight and a fight between them would probably be war. this is just thinking out loud though.
If anyone thinks Clottey isn't deserving of a fight with Cotto, they just need to stop watching boxing. Sure, there are others that are also deserving of a fight with Cotto, but Clottey is definetely deserving of a fight with him.
He definitely deserves it. He has fought the best in his weight class and has been criminally underexposed. He deserves his title shot.
He is definitely deserving, doubt it will happen though. Risk to reward doesn't make sense, though i am sure Cotto would be up for it. Better off letting Cotto pound on Cintron with a ton of PR fans forking out for it.
This is funny . . . of course Clottey deserves a "showdown" with Cotto and vice versa . . . Cotto deserves a fight with Clottey . . . I'm not comfortable in saying "a shot" . . . Clottey and Cotto are just in equal footing . . . they are both title holders . . . you might want to say a shot at the WBO belt instead.
Exactly. Ppl make these bias @ss threads, acting as if Cotto is superior because he won the WBO by beating Michael Jennings aka part time boxer/drummer aka 42nd best WW in the world.
