“He did good, but he fought a nobody. Michael Jennings is a nobody. Cotto looked good, but he's going to need a good defense if he fights with me or Shane Mosley. I have to fight with Cotto. To make a good fight, me and Cotto would be the best. Cotto and Cintron and is not good. They have to try me and see what I can do. I deserve that shot because we have to unify the belts and we are under the same promotional company,”

“A fight with Cotto is not going to last the full twelve rounds. I promise you because I'm going to jump on him and hit him like crazy. I'm not going to stand there and do nothing. I'm not going to put on running shoes like Michael Jennings. I don’t put on running shoes, I put on boxing shoes and you always have to stand and fight. I'm going to fight him and he’s going to run and he’s not going to beat me - no way. I will stop him if they give me the chance. I am 100% sure,”

I hope this fight gets made. Clottey seems real anxious to get in there with Cotto.

I think he's resorted to talking trash in order to get the fights he wants and get paid. I can understand and repsect that.

Why does he feel the need to slag off Jennings?

Nobody thought he would win and he fought an honest fight and gave his best.

We all know you're better than Michael Jennings Clottey but have a bit of respect for a fellow boxer who has nothing to be embaraased of.

He said that Jennings is a nobody and that he put on his track shoes against Cotto. These are both accurate assesments. Jennings looked scared, he ran, and he eventually folded.

I dont really blame him for resorting to trash talk, it gets **** done. Aside from us hardcore fans, Clottey isnt a very marketable guy so being a shittalker will unfortunately only help him out in this day and age when your big mouth seems to accout for more than your talent and accomplishments

We all knew Jennings wasn't going to win.

We all know that he stayed at distance and, once or twice, did look a bit scared but why does Clottey need to try and make himself look like a big man by slagging him off? There are nicer ways to say things and Jennings is a good guy and a gentleman.

Clottey is going to get a big fight with either Cotto or Mosely and doesn't need to slag off an honest fighter. If, however, he had made passing insults about Margarito we wouldn't be having this debate. But to slag of a guy who probably knew himself that he wouldn't win and still gave an honest performance is pathetic.

Imo, Shane is waiting for PAc or Floyd so Cotto should take on Clottey. Cotto can win some fans back by taking a tough fight like this. I'm not saying he lost fans, but many seem to think he lost respect after his loss to AM for how he fought him. This should be an easy fight to be made by arum, but we all know Arum.

Every fighter doesn't act like a quoir boy. Clottey called it like he saw it. I wouldn't read too much into these words. Fight talk is fight talk.

Agree totally, I think this is a tough but very winnable fight for Cotto. Get his SELF reapect back, because I dont think he lost much of the fans respect from the Margarito loss. At least not from true fans
On a side note, thats a fine babe in your avitar

Clottey didn't slag off on anyone, he gave an honest opinion. This is boxing. Being nice and polite don't get you very far in this sport. Clottey had to be blunt to get his point across. He didn't have time to worry about Jennings' feelings.

:good yea, for some reason I don't mind his **** talking(unless he starts doing it too much). If anything he just seems to be frustrated and calling it like he sees it. but Clottey vs Cotto sounds real good!

Thats a hell of a fight, and Clottey isnt even going overboard with his trash talk. He is definitely not as bad as people like Mayorga or Mayweather
