In thier prime's. Eder Jofre moves up to challenge Wilfredo Gomez, who is at his natural weight. Who would win this historic fight? 15 rounds.
What a match...122 would have suited Jofre fine and you could hardly find a fighter to pick over Gomez since superbantam's inception. Ill have to think about this one...My first thought as soon as I saw this thread was Jofre SD.
I'd take Jofre by late TKO. He was the better technician and more disciplined IMO. Gomez, for all his obvious talent, tended to get caught up in slugfests, and his chin was only about average - a bad combination against the precise powerpunching of Jofre.

Very close fight. I give Jofre the best chance out of any of the bantamweights to step up and beat Gomez but I think Gomez would actually win this he is the bigger more powerful man and possibly the better boxer he has great defence and footwork. Very close match Gomez via decision.
Jofre faster and he can do everything Gomez can which was alot, Wilfredo the stronger and a bigger punch, both can go 15 fighting hard. Pic em.
Good fight but Jofre stops him. I see Gomez being competitive for the most part but getting beaten up by the end. If there was a 122 for Jofre to fight that may have been his best as he would t have stuck around killing to make 118.
