Who will Hopkins fight next?

i just think hopkins doesn't have anything he would rather do or enjoy in life than fight - and i think he and holyfield are very similar in that.

oscar can retire and promote and be 'happy' doing it much more than hopkins could.

guys like hopkins and holyfield feel like they lose that 'edge' and maybe a piece of themselves if they stop fighting. that's my opinion.

they aren'øt playing the numbers and aren't interested in how their legacy is 'damaged'. it's in their blood and this is what they love to do.

 

I gotta strongly disagree with the part in red. If anything, Hopkins is obssessed about his legacy and how he will be remembered. And come to think of it, i think that is one reason why he might actually go out when he should.

It would be great if he took Adamek and Kessler and grab both The Ring CW belt and whatever belts Kessler holds. I think he can beat both. Then, he can retire as a possible top 30 ATG. :good And while you're at it, fight JT at a 170 catchweight and whoop his ass.

 

Hopkins doesn't need to fight Chad Dawson at this stage, He's already soundly beaten the Next big thing in Pavlik, The fight that make's perfect sense for Hopkins is Adamek, The lineal Cruiserweight champion and would add so much more to an already solid ATG Legacy. Fighting Dawson at this stage, while being a fight I'd love to see just isn't as necessary to Hopkins as it would be for Joe Calzaghe and his Legacy.
I think he may retire though and go out with his devastating win over Pavlik and who could blame him.

with what hopkins is doing now at his age isn't hurting him one bit, but for my mind hopkins is first and foremost a man who loves to fight and who doesn't really know what to do to substitue that.

he's still a superb fighter at his age but a big part of that is his dedication to staying fit and his discipline. i think he needs this to justify who he is and to stop him becoming an 'old man' - if that makes sense.

fighting was everything to him to break the mold of his troubled youth and for a lot of people losing the discipline puts them in danger of falling back into bad ways again.

I agree with everything. I just disagree when you said that he doesn't care too much about his legacy.

 

fair call but even if he does now i think he's going to continue fighting regardless and invent new reasons for why he wants to continue.

 

Adamek would be a very nice win for Hopkins, if he could beat him. If Adamek beats Banks this week then he will be on a bit of a roll. He is also the cruiserweight champion of the world-a division Hopkins has never held a title in. It would be a signifigant win but probably doesn't offer up the money Hopkins could make elsewhere.

I'm not sure who but Hopkins will fight again. Its what he does and he is still doing it at a high level. I could see him against Dawson,Taylor 3,Jones, Pavlik rematch, heavyweight, Adamek, etc. If Hopkins wants to fight on then he has plenty to choose from

 

i say retirement or roy, dawson would more then likely serve a near shut at this point if they fought, and he offers no money for the fight, therefore dont count on seeing this one.

Also nard went on FnF a few weeks ago and said he wouldnt fight chad because he didnt want to "ruin" the next generation of fighters(or something to that effect) yet he had no problem fighting an all around inferior pavlik. nard knows the dawson fight is not winnable at this point, bad style match up.

 

just thinkin, if he could settle for a 1-1.5$ mil pay day he might be able lure abraham up to 168 and fight him, this would be a fairly easy fight for him.

 

all big names but will the public like to see Hopkins humiliate Tarver again? Tito seems to be complety spent, Pavlik will not want another soul destroying beating, De La hoya is currently much to small and would probably get a one way ticket to casualty if he fought the executioner. Dawson probably makes the most sense but i can't see this fight yielding a big enough purse.
Its very difficult to see a big fight fo Bhop, winner of Williams v Winky?

or bernard v kessler but that aint gonna happen so leave that as a fantacy

 

if Paul Williams really takes care of Winky, I could see Hopkins challenge Paul at 168-175.

I don't think Paul should move past 160 either. Hypothetically if he continues to have difficulty find fights, I wouldn't put it past Bernard at all to at least entertain the idea of challenging Paul.
