Why did Cortez refuse to take a point from Manny for the late hit, therefore giving him the fight? Freddy Roach paid him, there should be an investigation, JMM WAS ROBBED!!!

Nobody is bothering to answer you because the question is so damn stupid. Everyone else in the world knows that the fight continued because JMM wasn't hurt.

Which means you're the dumbest person in the world. How does that feel?

It's not a matter of Cortez's forcing him to continue. Forcing Marquez is out of the question here. Marquez on his own volition stood and beat the count.

Right you are, everytime a boxer gets up from a knockdown, he is either allowed to continue or not. Marquez was allowed to continue in that fight.
Let's go to that article.... He said I allowed Marquez to contine fighting and fight the fight of his life in succeeding rounds. Did he say whether Marquez was still fit to fight or not? No. Therefore, there must be something he knew that we did not know during that time. As I have said, and this is just an opinion based on his startling statement that he could have stopped the fight after Marquez having been knocked down three times, but he allowed him to continue. Therefore, he does not dislike Mexican boxers and to Marquez, he should be grateful for what he did. This is my opinion and if you don't agree with it. That's your problem.

Does it hurt, being that dumb?

Aren't you glad the fight was fixed and Manny didn't get the point deduction?

That question needs to be answered. Yes, he wasn't hurt but other referees may think otherwise.Stopping the fight may have entered Cortez's mind to prevent Pac from hurting Marquez more. That could probably be the reason he made a slip on this article. It's illogical I think to cite something which he is supposed to do even in response to Marquez's accusing him of hating Mexican boxers.

it is because you and i will never know what the hell cortez was thinking at the time. like we will never know what he was smoking when he disqualified humberto soto. the fact reamains that he did his job. he did not stop the fight because he wasnt supposed to. jmm beat the count. and pac's extra punch when jmm was down did not help either.

He wanted to show the Mexican boxers that he did not hate them, and in the process he got caught in a quagmire forcing himself to commit a slip. In a post-mortem, it revealed what he was thinking during that time that Marquez was knocked down 3 times.

    It could be interpreted as,:

"If you are my enemy, I could have stopped the fight. If I hate Mexican boxers, I should not have allowed you to continue fighting." Therefore.... your guess is as good as mine.

I may be dumber than dumb, but I'm not dumber than you because I have no problem understanding what Cortez was saying.

My only question is how much did Freddie pay him to not penalize Manny a point, thus giving him the fight.

Given that Pac put in an extra punch while JMM was clearly down, Cortez could have just as easily disqualified Pacquaio or penalized him by calling it a foul and giving him a point deduction as others stated. He wasn't biased against Pacquaio.

And he shouldn't be the referee of any major fights because he is no longer a competent ref. Hatton vs PBF was bad, and then he followed it with the Soto/Lorenzo debacle.

There is no connection between these two events. You're stating obvious facts and trying to twist them into something controversial.

How is it startling when you admitted at the beginning of the post that everytime a fighter is knocked down he has the option of allowing him to continue or stop the fight? Seems like a routine decision not anything out of the ordinary.

You mean Freddie knew beforehand that Pac would commit a violation in the 1st round and he actually paid Cortez even before he committed that act? How about creating a thread on it, dumb****! :rofl:rofl:rofl

It is startling in the sense that this revelation in that article could alter the results of fight had he not allowed Marquez to continue fighting. It again boosts the case of Pac winning the 1st fight. Again, may I ask what is the point in bringing this up there is nothing irregular about it. He got caught offguard to reveal what was in his mind during that time. If your mind is as sharp as mine (unfornately, yours is not), you will question the decision making of this referee in future fights. Was he influenced by his bias for a certain race? Pac's camp should not allow Cortez to officiate in Pac's future fights.
