Which British Fighter will be over-hyped after Haye, Hatton, Froch and Khan get KO'd?

So it means that you'll only be officially certified as a good fighter if you fight in the US and the US public sees your fights?

I don't think so.
If you're good, you're good anywhere.

Fighting in the US is for better worldwide exposure and better recognition.

Sure, some of them might not be sure fire pound for pound candidates, but at the very least, they'll be able to hang with the best of them. Similar or of near equal skill level with the best 10 or 20 in the division, at least.

It depends on who you ask, there is no key answer to this, but I would not be alone in saying they are professional boxers with skill and ability, you just can't

 

Wrong, wrong and wrong again...

We have always respected American fighters. Our problem has never been envy but being too in awe of American fighters in general. Too many British fighters have fought average Americans and bottled it just because of their nationality.

We are going through a golden age of British Boxing at the moment. Just 6 months ago we had more "Ring Magazine Championship" belts than any other nation (Calzaghe x 2, Haye and Hatton) and the youngsters coming through are the best we've had for a long while.

No-one knows how long it is going to last but just 5 years ago boxing in Britian was almost dead from our obsession with the WBU, IBO and other fringe Alphabet titles and although I won't claim to be a fan of all our current fighters (patriotism and me just don't mix) we are right to be proud of the renaissance of British Boxing.

I've not seen too much of Billy Jo Saunders to be honest which is why I left him off the list.

What about McCloskey I missed his breakthrough win for the British champs. Can he step up?

 

I'm not too sure about him to be honest. I thought the Lyons win was a good one but that's twice that Lyons has just quit on his stall within the last 2 years. I'd like to see him (McCloskey) in against David Barnes and/or Ajose Olusegun to see how he can handle them, especially the latter.

mccloskey is the real deal , he will win the euro strap in the summer and then id say will be fighting for eworld titles next year . hes irish not british btw

 

i dont like all this prejudice behaviour from jeff, especially since america doesnt have any fighters coming through that i can think of off the top of my head, let alone hype

 

He's from Northern Ireland and therefore British. If he's willing to fight for the British title and all that...

And incase you didnt notice, in 2008 it was UK 3-0 USA, hatton won over an american, haye won over an american and calzaghe won over an american. So yeah we must be proper jealous. Stupid ****.
