so do people now understand why i was giving Willie greif for fighting for a belt that means as much in boxing as Beeston Brawlers 1 GCSE in Textiles!!!

my main points were

1) Willie would have been better of paying for a decent opponent than paying the WBU sanctioning fees to fight a WBU bum

i am proven right as Willies opponent didnt even pass the medical. he didnt even arrive in the UK until yesterday. If he has been fighting a non WBU bum, a domestic rival for example this would not have happened and the fans would not be disapointed


2) Willie was ripping of the fans by fighting for the WBU as he would claim it to be a world title. Willie promised he would not do this but this weeks hes quoted by the BBC as saying

"We get a lot of stick for this belt. But, at the end of the day, it's a world title and it's a 12-round fight that every boxer wants to be involved in," he said.

"To fight for any world title is a great achievement. It will be an honour if I win this and I'm declared WBU champion"

3) that the WBU has only helped the careers of Frank Warren fighters in the UK and that it will not benefit him.

The WBU sanctioning a fight with a bull**** opponent has meant that the Promoters (willie limmond) have let the fans down.

The League Cup is the WBU of the football world so if I'm a mug then I guess you are too.

 

I have consistently mocked the WBU, and will continue to do so.

However, I see little point in continuing the debate about Willie Limond and this particular fight because firstly, it was done to death some time ago, and secondly, the fight is off in any case.

Rob, you would of creamed yourself a million times if you read the Daily Record all this week. Articles from , "15th scottish champ" etc etc. The bottom line is, the boys making fights for himself and others and hopefully making coin. Oh and hopefully people are paying not only to see a WORLD title fight but the other fighters on the card......and i believe this is the case.

HH i agree .rob palmer is acting like a total tit.He as made his point and is just being disrespectful to Wullie.Instead of giving him plaudits for taking the financial risk of promoting himself,and other boxers all he wants to do is knock the guy .pish poor patter

 

I just think its things like the WBU thats killing boxing and as a fan that loves the sport i should tarnish anyone that trys to big it up to be more than it is. theres no way anyone can doubt Willie and others on this forum have tried to do that (after voiceing simular opinions to myself previously) since Willie was sheduled to fight for it.


If i was in Willies postion, I would have spent all the cash that went into the WBU sanctioning fees on a better opponent. An opponent that could push him up the european rankings and get a shot at Thaxton.

I think to question what I bring to boxing is an slight insult to everyone on this forum. I am a hardcore fan, and sure maybe there a million more just like me, but there is plenty i bring to boxing, the sport need fans as much as it needs fighters.

Infact if theres one thing we dont need its more belts like the WBU. So it is a bad situation for myself and boxing.
