In any event, Calzaghe has the better legacy.

If you've thought it through, and considered the criteria of a legacy, and that is your final, measured opinion, then great. But if you're basing it solely on resume and achivement, I think that opinion is poorly constructed.

Hamed was the greater any entertainer, but this is the fight game. Naseem will forever be condemned for his beatdown at the hands of Marco, and then instead of proving like great fighters do, coming back, he just faded into obscurity. 50 years from now, people will see Joe's name in the top 100 p4p consensus, and in Hopkins resume...Hamed? Who knows.

4. Well it's been about 9 years since Naz retired and he is still a major topic on boxing forums. Will Joe?? I doubt it

I agree Hamed was a great entertainer, and I think in the collective memory people will remeber him for many years, so I don't accept he has faded into obscurity at all. Other than that, you make some good points.

I thought Hamed's entrance where he came through the graveyard and punched the skull. Loved it. Brilliant.

I don't think I have that you know, which fight was it? I've always liked the Bungu entrance best.

That was the ring entrance I was talking about. It's on youtube. I've not seen the fight, but the entrance was probably worth the price of admission alone.

Hamed didn't knock him out, but then again, nobody knocks McCullough out.
Robinson (WBO champ, 8 defences)
Medina(5 time world champ)
Johnson (reigning IBF, 8 defences)
Kelley (former WBC, world #3, one loss in 50)
Vazquez (reigning WBA, three weight champ)
McCullough (former bantam champ, two time featherweight challenger)
Soto (WBC champ, reigning)
Ingle (future IBF champ)
Bungu (former long-reigning super bantam champ, hadn't lost in years)

That, to me, is a better list than the following:

Eubank
Reid
Sheika
Starie
Woodhall
Brewer
Mitchell

Plus, Hamed fought all four reigning champions (so what if politics meant they all stripped him) and fought a number of times away from home earlier in his career.
Youve got to think how they dealt with them as well

Hamed beat most of them in spectacular fashion, brutally knocking most of them out with his unbelievable power.

I think an important part of legacy is fight replay value. People will watch Naseems fights in years just to see his unorthodox style and power even entrances and just general showmanship, I cant say the same about Calzaghe. Also when Joe taunts he doesnt come across as a guy putting on a show for the crowd he comes across as a horrible arrogant ****, like against Jones.

I'm not sure that on its own 'ring persona' has a lot to do with legacy, but It does contribute to that overall 'public image' that is important for longevity and impact - two of the critera which I believe significantly effect "legacy". Hamed had that persona of an arrogant and cocky showman - no one really knows how much of it was real - but he was certainly a charecter and he generated significantly more publicity and interest than Calzaghe did, despite Calzaghe arguabley being the more all round gifted boxer.

Calzaghe seems to have very little tangible personality, and when he did eventually try and project what little personality he did have, into the ring, against Hopkins and especially Jones, he came off, as you say, "a horrible, arrogant ****", and not in a good, slightly comical way like Hamed did.

In many ways though, Hamed and Calzaghe have very similar personas, but I would seriously have to think about which of them was the genuinely arrogant and egotistical piece of work, and which was the showman, putting on an act to please the crowd.
