Why does most people say that AA would beat him so easily? Seriously, the hopkins fight was a schooling, I will give you that, no question. Does anyone think AA would beat Hopkins? Hopkins the night of the Pavlik fight was awesome. That fight would have nothing to do with AA, whatsoever. AA is a great fighter, no question. He has great defense and a powerful punch. I really think the volume of pavlik punches will catch AA eventually and although i think AA might be almost impossible to Ko, I really think that pavlik will win the fight by decision.
Don't get carried away dude . . . that's just an opinion. Fans will always HYPE their fighters . . . the truth is . . . it's gonna be a closely contested fight which can go both ways.
I know, it is just insane. I mean pavlik lost to a legend, but Decision. Tyson lost to a ****ing quiter and his popularity grew. It is just insane how people turn on guys the second there is just a ***** in the armor.
I think the hate comes from the overrating people do when a guy is on top. Fans and commentators see a good fighter like Pavlik beat someone good like Taylor 2 times and destroy Lockett and say he is the greatest fighter to fight at middleweight since Hagler and Hearns. HBO did this and people believed them. The haters were the ones probably who never bought into the hype, yet were never listened to. Yet seeing that someone is overly hyped is not too hard to do. HBO loves to do it for viewership. They did the same with Donald Curry and even Michael Nunn. I give Pavlik a lot more credit than someone like Mayweather. Pavlik seems to fight everyone, regardless if he can beat them, which makes me think he will fight Abraham eventually. He never seems to duck anyone. He reminds me of Iran Barkley in that way. You cannot get too mad at guys who give it their all.
Quite the reverse, dude. Until recently (last June), not too many thought AA would beat Pavlik. The over-used term eurobum was tossed around quite a bit. (Remember when that ****-witted dofus, KillTheKing was posting ? He disappeared one night last June , when Pantera hit the canvas for the third time. He's back under a new alias. Just as ****-witted and classless as before). Now, it's plain that there was more to AA than met the eye. (That he fought 8 rounds with a badly broken Jaw and still won, might have provide a clue. In fact, he came close to stopping Miranda in the 9th of that fight) How he resolved matters in the second fight, should have left little doubt. No one should predict an easy victory over Pavlik. (Unless Kelly sticks his chin out). I see this fight as close to 50-50. If Kelly can avoid AA's power for the second half of the fight, I would probably favour him by decision. (He probably doesn't have to worry about the first half as Arthur will be in turtle and feel-out mode.) If it goes 12, Kelly is the slight favourite. If it ends suddenly, I would favour AA. Overall, I'm leaning 51-49 towards AA. But I wouldn't bet any money at this point !
Now it's ridiculous how many people make AA the real champion at 160 but based on what? Pavlik has to worry about AA in the 1st half of the fight, where he can get caught with something. That's Abraham's best chance to take out Pavlik early and if he doesn't use his chances, I see Pavlik wearing him out.
Most people do not say that AA would beat Pavlik, nor are they haters. That's just a vocal minority. Their analysis of a H2H match-up usually goes something like this: "Pavlik is scared. He's ducking AA. Arthur will knock him out if they fight." That's their analysis, because it represents the full depth of their boxing knowledge. However, that is certainly not all AA fans. The real AA fans are not ******ed, nor are they KP haters. There are many serious posters and smart fans on both sides of the argument. Here's a very good thread to look at. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117262&highlight=pavlik/abraham:+closer
AA just challenged Pavlik to a fight anywhere.. If pavlik doesnt take the fight he absolutly is ducking AA.. Im a fan of both and think that they should fight on the same card against duddy and a duddy-type then fight each other in the winter... I dont really favor either fighter, pavlik has a good workrate, speed, power blah blah blah but i think abrahams Dfence might be the deciding factor in the fight. Not that its great but AA's D is better than pavliks, from what I seen pavlik only added to his offensive arsenal in the fight against rubio, didnt really see any defence improvement..
and AA's challenge was no fake, I truelly believe he really wants the fight, and pavlik is a warrior for sure, but at this stage in his career he must no its risky for someone of his age to become sort of a Varges figure and burn ut to young before your defence caught up with your offence.. If I was kellys manager i wouldnt put him agianst AA at the moment, pavlik could win but its to risky, pavliks still just 25-6, he should beat up duddy, p willams, another up and comer, and then if AA is still around it would be a huge fight and pavlik would be around 28 and starting to peak offensively and defensively and pavlik would be ready for ANYONE..
Thats why we want the AA fight so bad... It's a true toss-up! You can't predict exactly what will happen... Thats what I call a good fight. Duddy? Mora?.... F.U. Arum! How long has Pavlik held the title now? And so far he's defended twice... Lockett and Rubio. Wow! Quite a legacy! Same can be said for AA's opposition, but at least he's been active at 160.
I am not a big Pavlik fan. IMO Rubio threw the last fight by not throwing punches. On the other hand, I think something was up with Pavlik with Hopkins. Pavlik mentioned being on antibiotics and also having an elbow injury. You look at his output in that fight and it was pathetic - he didn't throw a damn punch. Hopkins schooled him but I think Pavlik could have done much better, if not won if operating at 100%. Abraham on the other hand looks very relaxed in the ring. He totally destroyed Miranda without breaking a sweat. Pavlik too many hits against Miranda. IMO if Abraham comes in at 100% and Pavlik comes in at 100% Pavlik is going to get schooled, bad.
Well, you can't fault Arum's STATED lineup. His first job is to promote Kelly's career. Imagine what it would do for his career if he pulled off Duddy, Sturm, Abraham as he stated he wants to do. Not Arum's or Pavlik's fault that AA is having trouble making weight. It doesn't mean they are obliged to give him this fight NOW instead of the end of the year which is their time schedule. Business first. Like it or not. AA is a risk in more ways than one. He postponed the Marquez fight due to "flu". I'm still convinced it was weight drain issues.
