    My point.

    How can you say Jermain Taylor is no longer the undisputed champion now because they stripped him and now Arthur Abraham holds the IBF belt. And now it's said that Abraham is the IBF "champion" but I never heard of someone becoming a champion without beating the champion.

    If you don't have all the belts of the major sanctioning bodies (WBC-WBA-IBF and for most (except some boxing purists WBO), you are not undisputed, simple as that, end of story.

    You might be the "Ring champ", "linear champ" and "number one" just not "undisputed". This is NOT AN OPINION but a concept from the past. This is technical notion, Jermain Taylor is still the man.

    If Jermain wanted to remain "undisputed" he had to defend his belt and fight the mandatory. he did not do it and that is the reason why he is not undisputed champ anymore. In order to remain undisputed you gotta fight your mandatories, simple as that.

    so by your logic every fighter is a linear champion unless you hold the WBC-WBA-IBF-WBO-IBA-WBU-IBO-WBPF. because you decide you can pick and choose wich organisations are worthy.

    Very clearly, your logic applies to the "linear" championship. I have tried to explain but some people are either to dumb or dont want to understand...

    MAJOR BODIES, does the ring a bell?

    IBF-WBA-WBC and for the majority WBO.

    IBU, WBU...or whatever don't mean ****...

    Just because you saw some Wikipedia bull**** about what a suite wearing chump thinks about what makes a undisputed champion, it does not necessarily make it so.

    But if you are not allowed to defend your belt's because the ibf or any of the abc bull**** belts strip you you never lost that belt in the ring to the better man so who ever gets that belt after you it means nothing. Because they never beat the champ to get that belt.
    If you are a boxing fan you should know that.
    Also most people now say undisputed champion if you hold any 3 of the 4 belts as it is so hard to get all 4 belts and not get striped of them

    Finally, you got it right. Then you become "linear champ" even if you vacate all ABC belts. T
    Agreed again, it is more difficult to become undisputed champ. With 3 belts (WBC-IBF-WBA) Yes, you may call yourself "undisputed" as some boxing purists don't count the WBO. However, the IBF-WBA-WBC are generally recognized

    IMO.. I have actually thought a lot about this, I say ....mmmm Yes he can be regarded as Number 1 and probably the closest thing to undisputed as you could get as he was finding it harder and harder to stay at cruiser.. I can see the points arisen about legit Undisputed being WBA.. WBC... IBF at least... but seing as he did grab the WBO.. which nowadays is regerded as a genuine title to hold.. he is undisputed because no one disputed him being the best , but technically there will always be people out there that will claim he should have grabbed the IBF... I suppose it may stem from some issues many people have with Haye becoming succesful... i dunno... we will have to see how great he is in the coming months....

    No my point is you are still undisputed champ if you have not lost them belts in the ring as who ever gets them after you it means nothing as they never beat the champ simple as that

    haye was the best in division!the belts dont mean a lot to the fighers who just want to fight the best out!no one going to look back at how many belts he won,but who he fought and beat.

    I pretty much agree with you.
    It is just technical and the notion "undisputed* was more appropriate to previous generations which also explains that our recent followers of the sport here don't know it. Main thing, Haye was the man and number one at cruiserweight.

    That logic applies to "linear" champion. Like Foerman was when he fought Briggs. Briggs beat him to become linear champ.

    The concept of "undisputed" is just technical and some of you just overrate here.

    If Foerman would have come back after he vacated the belt to face WBC champ LL, we would have a matchup WBC world champ LL against linear champ Foerman (because he never actually lost his belts inide the ring)
