Well, the reason I read this board is so that I don't get all of my information from the US perspective. The Brits like to accuse others of nationalism but seem to not see it in themselves. The Haye, Froch and even still Calzaghe stuff that pops up. (They disowned poor Jennings early on) I stopped posting about Cal once he retired. Even I am willing to let him call it a career let it go. But pages and pages on a fight that can't even get signed? Please....

I just pop into these thread now and again to see if anything new has developed. Of course the answer is always no. Then I unsubscribe and wait a while, rinse and repeat.....

Haye wanted the fight when he thought he was intimidating Wlad with the big talk act. Haye wanted the fight when he was playing like fantasy land. But when he realized the stone cold harsh REALITY that Wlad has zero apprehension about facing him - and actually wants to knock his skull into the fifth row, Haye has become intimidated and frightful. Now he's literally afraid of June 20. Now he doesn't want to go to Germany.

Steve Bunce are you ready to admit it? Or you still covering up for Haye? "Oh it's all the fault of the lawyers."

To be honest, this fight would do better in Europe. No one in the US gives a damn about heavyweight boxing anymore. You ask an American who the heavyweight champion is and people will still probably say Mike Tyson or maybe Lennox Lewis. You'd be lucky if someone would reply, "That big Russian dude".
At least Haye is big in England and Wlad is big in Germany.

It probablly makes more sense to take place in Europe, but there is no reason why the couldn't build it up as a big fight over in NY and the US.

Let me give you a reality check in terms of boxing in the US period. I am from Youngstown. When my brother was home I told him about Kelly Pavlik. He didn't know about him. He said it would give him a reason to start following boxing again.

Next trip home we were watching the sports news and Jack Loew came on. He looked at me and said, "Why didn't you tell me Jack was his coach?". Turns out they used to work and hang out together. THAT is how big boxing is in the US right now. My brother didn't know about Kelly and didn't know his old pal was his trainer.

And Haye thinks he will draw in the US? :rofl

The fight will sell itself, just like Vitali vs Lewis jacked the Staples Center. People saw and heard the hype and got interested. Vitali was totally unknown in the US at the time but his presence and persoanlity and appearance - along with being matches vs Lewis made the event big.

If Americans see Klitschko and Haye on the news, ESPN and hear the whole story, the buzz will get going for sure and the fight will be big no matter where it is.

Problem is Haye has to just shut up with all the excuses and sign a CONTRACT already. He has possibly made more excuses than Floyd vs. Margarito.

Why should Wlad's side bend over backwards for the fight? He's the Champion and the guy with the belts on line.

He cleared his madatory just so this fight could take place.:deal

I honestly don't think Haye is scared but I do think he believes he's more valuable than he really is. He's famous in England and that's why Klitschko wanted the fight in the UK. To sell tickets. Klitschko doesn't need Haye to sell tickets in Germany, and Wlad is a bigger name in the USA than Haye is, no need to fight Haye is the fight is in the US.

Haye not fighting in the US would be quite a hurdle. Now, if they had a build up event first where Haye actually knocked out a top contender on the undercard of a Wlad title defense, then it might make more sense. Wlad vs Arreola in LA is bigger than Wlad vs Haye in MSG.

That's what I'm saying, because of his Mexican heritage Chris Arreola is a much bigger draw than Haye anywhere in the USA, especially on the west coast.

    :good

And because of the behavior from Haye, Wlad should sign a fight with Arreola to fight in the US.

He can box against Haye later. Wlad should give Haye some time to proof that Haye is a worthy challenger. To proof it in the ring not carry around pictures from heads.:tired

To be honest, if I were in Wald's shoes, I'd sign another fight just to infuriate Haye even more.

Looks like Arreola is taking on Mccline according to Rafael...already approved by HBO...so that only leaves Haye as a possible opponent...there's just not much else out there unless he can face Povetkin early or perhaps Toney. I think we'll see Wlad-Haye come off for June 20.
