wtf is wrong with Kessler there are opportunities jumping at him left right and center and he is talking of a fight with Larssen. Larssen is a nobody and Kessler is quickly becoming one himself. Soon enough we're gonna call him Zolt Erdei v2.0
Erm, if you say so. Mads Larson, however, shows the consequences of that approach. It's not like it's a unique situation. Bute ain't fighting any better opposition than Kessler (and was lined up to fight Larson himself before Larson turned it down). At middleweight Pavlik has had defences against Lockett and Rubio (probably worse than Hausler and Sartison in overall quality) and now his promoter is talking about putting him with Duddy not because anyone thinks it would be a competitive fight, but because it would get fans in in New York (exactly the same rationale as there would be for Kessler v Larson in Copenhagen). At light heavyweight, Dawson ignores what would be a reasonably competitive mandatory to instead fight two fights against an old guy off the movies, when the first fight was not competitive. Common factor = ****y promoters.
if you wanna put Kessler on Bute's level then thats your choice. Bute imo is not on that level and i don't hold him to the same standards. Bute having fought guys like Andrade and Bika at this point is actually quite impressive. Bute never wanted to fight Larson, and neither did his team. The fact that Kessler actually might is pathetic. Pavlik fought Lockett and Rubio but you conveniently forgot Miranda, Taylor twice, and Bernard Hopkins. And his promoter is talking of Duddy but he is also talking of Abraham. Talk is just talk but its action that matters. Pavlik has had plenty already and he is even younger than Kessler.
What happened did Johnson call out Kessler?,Iturned it to Sho when the !0th was over Would Johnson go down in weight?
Kessler should go up in weight to fight him. Johnson has't called him out but we all know that he would take the fight for a decent payday
I agree. Its pissing me off. Make no mistake Mikkel is easily a world class fighter but he is severely pissing me off now. If this Larsen fight goes through, that has to be it, no more low-key fights, only biggies, and by that I grudgingly mean in America.
Conveniently ignored? Erm, only if I 'conveniently ignored' Kessler fighting Calzaghe, Andrade and Mundine as well. I compared their recent opposition and future mooted opposition outside of the defeat both suffered when stepping up in class. Arum, by the way, was noticeably talking about almost everyone but Abraham in the aftermath of Pavlik/Rubio.
Andrade is not a Kessler level opponent and was a boderline nobody when he faced him in 2007. What was Andrade's best win leading to that point? A 40 year old Otis Grant? Kessler was a massive favorite against an unknown fighter who hadn't fought anyone worthy, and he fought him in Denmark. Apart from that your comparison shows how weak your point of view is.. Kessler fights Mundine in June 2005 and then Calzaghe in november 2007 and noone else since then. Pavlik fights Miranda in May 2007, Taylor in September 2007, Taylor again in February 2008 at a catchweight to accomodate Taylor, and Hopkins at 170 in October 2008. if we go back to 2005 then you can add Zertuche and Zuniga who are pretty much Andrade level opponents. Its not even comparable. And the fact that you're trying to make it seem like its the same thing is really laughable.
The paths are similar - upcoming, fought solid opponents, won titles, stepped up and lost, now fighting lesser opponents when there are legitimate challenges in their division that we would like to see them fighting. It's not a difficult point to grasp. If there was any logic in boxing, then Kessler would fight Bute and the winner of Froch v Taylor and Pavlik would fight Abraham and Sturm. But their isn't, and the interests of the promoters don't square with what I expect the desire of both fighters are, so they probably won't.
its not a difficult point to grasp and its also not difficult to grasp that your point is inaccurate. Kessler fought Calzaghe a year before Pavlik fought Hopkins, which was about 4 months ago. And before Pavlik stepped up to Hopkins, he had already stepped up twice by taking on Taylor just before..
Really? Kessler's last two and next two: Sartison, Haussler, Larsen, Perdomo (0 Top 10 fighters, 1 arguably Top 15 fighter) Bute's last two and next two: Joppy, Andrade, Zuniga, Andrade (2 Top 5 fighters, 1 arguably Top 15 fighter) :deal
