The fact of the matter is with Degale is we can't truly say HOW good he is, when he's fighting someone whose just there for a payday. He never was a stoppage/KO artist in the amateurs. So what do you all expect? some amateurs adapt to the pro game quicker than others, sometimes fighters have 'off nights' so at least give them a chance. They're all obviously very talented and will be at least Euro standard.
After reading this thread I wish I had Sky Sports. Did DeGale really make that much of a **** of himself in the post fight interview? And what's all this about tapping his opponent on the head?
Got the opponent on the ropes a couple of times, and started patting him on the top of the head for some strange reason. It was defintely not an Ali-type in your face poke..........at least that would have made sense if he was trying to line up the straight right or attempting to disconcert the opponent. It came across as a "take-the-****" move on his part (although I'm not sure if that was his intention).
Give the guy a chance,it was his first fight and he had more pressure on him than the other olypians being the gold medal winner.Im sure he will improve and its way too early to put him in the same sentance of faliure as the legendry Audley, surley nobody can win a gold and achive so little in the pros as Aud did ever again.
Degale is an embarrassment to British boxing. That said I, like many others, will be watching his career in the hope that he get's 'Amired' at some point in the hopefully not too distant future. The guy is a plank with all the charisma and charm of a bailiff. And Degale, if you are reading this - which I am sure you are - you are fugly! 'Better looking than Haye' my arse! Enjoy your peasants victory you powder puff! Maybe Eubank's kid could do us all a favour and shut this guy up for good...
As far as the fight goes I was not very impressed with Degale. Too much hitting with the inside of the glove and back of the glove (warned twice by the ref); too many arm punches; leaves his chin out way too much; as said the patting on the head was strange to say the least. But he did get the win. For all those who are saying that there's not much he could do with an opponent who was happy to remain in his shell, just take a look at Gavin and Saunders. They made their opponents come out of their shells by throwing punches that had a bit of venom in them, and throwing them in bunches; then they stopped them. And for all those who are saying that we cannot judge him on his first fight; HELLO:hi: This is a boxing forum; what the **** are we supposed to do? not mention the guys name until he's had ten fights under his belt? His first performance was below standard in my eyes, so thats what I'm gonna say. I don't think many of us are saying that his career is doomed already, but he may have more problems adapting to the pro ranks than the other debutants and might have to put in some hard work in the gym to sharpen up his punch technique. He could still come good.
DeSnail is a turkey in the pro ranks, he has no fans as he's **** and a total ***** to boot....look forward to seeing him get banjoed sooner rather than later. Warren probably already knows he's got a real dud on his hands.
DeGale also sounds punch drunk already. He's almost incomprehensible and badly slurring his words. Tellumfwank! Issalearlingcurve, a learlingcuuuuuuurvvvvvvllllle!
absolutely spot on.every word. If he's watched that today and not been totally embarressed, the lad wants a ****in slap. And those closest to him want to take him to one side and give him a slap anyway, just for acting like a twat. Hope he can reinvent himself.Should be easy after just 1 fight. Unless he really is the **** he's made himself out. If thats the case then bring on the sutherland fight and lets get rid of the nob.
Meh, there have been worse debuts... The coming out all flashy probably wasn't the best idea but at the end of the day he's the one Frank has paid the most for and he's the one under pressure to entertain...yes, first and foremost he should entertain in the ring but they guy is under a lot of pressure... Good luck to him I say...he's got a lot of learning to do, that much is clear, and I hope he goes ahead and does the learning!
