I can understand (I agree with) the argument that its only Degales first pro fight but Mitchells piece was completely OTT in its arse licking of Degales performance.
No matter which way you look at it...its absolutely disgraceful to boo a home fighter, a young guy on his pro debut. A guy that won Gold and brought respectability to Britains boxing medal haul, in the absence of a guy on the same bill that could not even make weight and caused embarrassment.
It does seem perverse to boo and jeer a gold medal winner in his first outing as a pro. Let him fight then judge him on results over time.
Booing a home fighter is generally bad but in this case it's deserved. He comes across as a twat of the highest order and unless his attitude changes drastically he'll never be a fan favorite.
Booing a guy in the Ring is wrong, unless they are stinking the joint out. DeGale was trying his best, he didn't deserve it.
