Why would Hatton become p4p #1 by beating Pac?

Hatton is a Jr. welterweight going up against a former featherweight. Hatton should win the fight due to his size advantage. Losing to a larger opponent in the weight class in which that opponent is most comfortable should not hurt Pac's p4p ranking. If Hatton becomes #1 p4p then one of the Klitschkos ought to challenge him and then one of them will become the #1 p4p. :huh

Hopkins did after beating the smaller Tito.

But I think Hatton will go about 3 or 4

The very essence of p4p rankings is that size is NOT a factor. Since size will undoubtedly be a factor in the fight, for better or for worse for each fighter, how can the winner call himself the #1 p4p in the world, unless it is Pac?

That would make sense. Hatton should at least beat a top natural lightweight before becoming #1 p4p. Beating the best featherweight is pretty good for a jr. welterweight... I guess... but the #1 p4p ought to do better.

Ricky likes saying that its for the PFP1 ,but real Boxing fans know thats BS.
The thing is,the fight will be a blockbuster largely due to casual fans and strictly Hatton fans, who believe it and wont question it.
It promotes and adds spice to the fight for them, even though we know its bollocks.

Roach said Pacman cant make 130 or 135 anymore. That kinda makes him a 140 pound fighter don't you think?

Hatton has fought mostly j.welters all his career and went up to welter and won a world title. His credentials are no in doubt.. he doesn't pray on smaller targets. But a win over Pac would be good regardless. After all he is the underdog here.

Well if he does beat Manny then the # 1 spot will have to go to JMM .

If that is true then Hatton is in big trouble.

He wouldn't. He would be #4 or 5. I think Pacquiao would still be ahead of him. Pac has done much more in the sport and has conquered many more divisions.

    It would look something like

    1. Marquez
    2. Hopkins
    3. Pacquiao
    4. Hatton

When hatton stops pacman he will be number 1.
If he beat him on points he will not be number 1.
    But hatton will stop him.
