Diaz really impressed me last saturday night. How does everyone think he would do against Ricky Hatton?

Hatton stoppage. I don't think it would be competitive to be honest.

JMM weakened Diaz to the body and Hatton would do similar.Hatton would stop him mid-late rounds

Hatton appears to be weak to the body too.

I think Hatton is too tough and strong. Diaz may have some success early on by boxing, but Hatton will wear him down and stop him.

At the same time there was not one clinch in Diaz's fight against Marquez. I think that is being overlooked, especially considering a great deal of Hatton's game plan revolves around clinching.

Diaz also has faster hands than Hatton. I think both are vulnerable to body shots. While Hatton would likely win, I think Diaz is being severly underrated. It would be a difficult fight for Hatton.

The reason I disagree is that Hatton's entire fighting style revolves around being larger, heavier and stronger than his opponent. Fights where he didn't impress like Collazo and Urango were with guys he couldn't throw around and maul. I find it very difficult to envisage such a smaller guy giving him problems, Pac for instance will have to perform very well to win. Diaz is pretty much made for Hatton.

But it's a horrible style match-up for Diaz. If two pressure, coming-forward fighters collide, the bigger and stronger backs up the smaller and weaker one, speed and punch output makes no difference. Diaz is quite effective coming forward vs. any elite fighter, but his game depends on coming forward, and when Nate was able to back him up, he clearly got the better of the exchanges. Hatton is faster, bigger and MUCH stronger than Nate and loves fighting on the inside, and even a WW Mayweather had to grab and foul to stop the Hatton machine. The adult, full strength bull kills the Baby Bull.

I love when Floyd is criticized for his tactics in the Hatton bout.

Its so ironic, its pure comedy.

Anyways, Hatton wins this in a war of attrition. But, the bigger, stronger man wins.

He did what he had to do. But don't expect to cheer on his fouling.

Hatton's much stronger than Diaz so I woulld have to pick him. It would be a fun fight to watch for however long it would last though.
