I thought about this more in the past few hours and you may be right here. The more Barrera would press, the more he would be countered. A fight between the two of these Mexicans years back may have been more action packed but ulitmately the same result.

I think you're for the most part, right on the money except for the bit about him being tired. Of course he was winded he was breaking all his compubox records inside 9 rounds. He was fighting a furious pace, one he had never fought before. Him looking tired was expected.
