Is beating Juan Diaz reason enough for a boxer to be crowned P4P #1?

On top of that, these 2 men just fought eachother last year, and no matter who feels JMM won, on paper Pac has the edge over JMM. Pac is definetely p4p no. 1

Totally agree..Pac holds on to his no1 spot for me.

That being said I though Marquez beat him in the 2nd fight, its just my bias towards Pac prevents me from being totally objective.

    Honesty is appreciated here. :D

But yes, Pac SHOULD keep his position.

Considering David Diaz was enough for Pac to cement the #1 spot and Juan Diaz is 3x the fighter David Diaz was then why not?

If Pac loses to Hatton . . . then yes! JMM goes up to #1.

If Pac wins . . . then the third fight should happen . . . then there's gonna be no question who's #1.

If Hatton wins . . . JMM vs Hatton will be the fight to look up to.

Head to head doesn't necessarily make a better fighter, because styles make fights. However, Pac and JMM fought two very close fights. Since their previous fight consider who Pac has fought and who JMM has fought.

Diaz + washed up Pretty girl
    vs
    Casamayour + Diaz

Draw and close JMM win in rematch. Sorry for not having my cards. But the fights really were that close. Of course, Lose the three KD's in Rnd 1 of their first fight, and the first is a clear JMM win. But he was dropped. In the rematch, I thought JMM just squeaked by, but can't complain really.

I don't have a problem of JMM being no. 1

I've never lost any sleep pondering if a given boxer was #8 or really #9,

much less, worrying about who was 48 and 49.

Like a beaty contest, or a greatest writer contest or greatest movie list, individual preferences come greatly into play, and, at the end of the day, there is NO RIGHT ANSWER.

There is not even complete agreement on what the terms mean.

Most would agree that Duran was better than Buchannan, but which of Hagler or Monzon rank higher ?

The answers to both questions are subjective but one would find a great deal more agreement than the other.

I regarded this as a pick'em fight and picked picked the Baby bull on the grounds that JMM was 10 years older and would get old sometime.

I had JMM trailing at the stoppage (by a couple of points) and it was due to the telling accuracy of JMM that he was able to wear the younger man down.

By any standards, this was a great victory for JMM and should push him close to the top of the best-boxer list.

For those whose who agonize on such lists.

If I do recall correctly, wasnt Pacman highly regarded for beatind David Diaz. Marquez moves up and goes and fights Casamayor and Juan Diaz (the good Diaz) So I don't have a problem with him being highly regarded.

He stopped two out of three best LW's. Casa and Diaz were KO'd by JMM. NAte is considered number 1 at LW until he couldn't make the limit and is now campaigning at 140. JMM should be the man at LW. Now P4P #1? He competes with his arch-rival, Manny Pac. Look at there last three matches, in terms of relevance and challenging opposition. That should tell u who is #1 P4P.

man if that is your syllogism, Darchinyan should be the No. 1 today.
