Chris John underrated?

i think people are now overrating john...he never had a clear 8 rounds against a limited juarez..gamboa, lopez, de leon and caballero would beat him

 

if john wasn't 100% on his fight against juarez, i reckon what would have happened if he was in his best condition. it would have been a wide ud

why was john not 100% in that fight? does he have an injury?

 

he was ill. his team said that if the fighter he was facing was better than rocky they would've pulled him out.

a rematch should happen

 

Wow, that's some good info. Point blank though, the fighter that fought Juarez is definitely no slouch and could definitely hang with some of the stronger feather weights in the division. Still would like to see more of him to make a better assesment. Good info though!

 

He got very sick because of the cold weather (yes, the fight was in Texas, but a cold front was coming through and remember he's from Indonesia), had to take a week off from training only 2 weeks before the fight and his people were rumored to be canceling the fight about 3 days before it happened.

 

He's like an asian version of Joe calzaghe. Smooth, technical style with a not so thunderous punch that comes in multiples.

 

Ya, they said so in the broadcast as well. I am glad they didn't pull since we really got to see what he's got. People are now doubting his stamina, because of it, but at least now the people did see him fight and one can tell that he is not a boring fighter like some people claim. Guy's not a banger, but he was definitely fun to watch and hopefully in his next fight if he gets a shot to fight in the US, he will be able to prove that stamina isn't an issue, just a side effect of him being ill!

 

okie, ive always expected the 1st half version of john...there is no way can juarez caught him...but if he was really sick, the doctor won't allow him to fight...still, he never dominated the limited juarez the way i expect him to do so

 

That's true, but I wonder if it had more to do with Juarez being more determined then normal and John just not being a big enough banger to keep Juarez at bay. Then you could still say that maybe he wasn't able to keep him at bay due to illness, a couple of question marks on him, but I think one can clearly see there was a tier difference between him and Juarez.

 

i expect john to win at least 9 rounds...he only dominated john in 6 rounds..couple of rounds where close..

so his stock goes down for me unlike others who are greatly impressed by john's performance

He was mostly recovered by the time the fight happened, but he missed a week of training immediately before the fight and because of that had trouble getting his weight back near 126.

 

i rank him inside my top 30 before that juarez fight, after the fight he moves out of my top 30..

 

Well, because of the draw, we'll probably never see him fight in the U.S. again. He wouldn't be so underrated if he got out of his backyard once in awhile.
