With Bernard Hopkins wrapping up his Hall of Fame career, and in consideration of the fact that he is now fighting mainly for his place in history...as he finishes up his resume, what win would look better, and help to solidify his legacy as one of the worlds greatest fighters...???

Adamek...Undisputed Cruiser Champ. Coming from 160 this is impressive.

Valuev...Largest HW Champ of all time. Coming from 160 this might be more impressive.

I would like to see him vs adamek then cunningham in Philly but vs Valuev then Toney would also be huge. Problem is Valuev is wrapped up in title fights

could you imagine hopkins beating valuev? that would be HUGE for his legacy not to mention at the end of his career, plus it would one up rjj which we all know hopkins would love to do.

45 year old and shot to bits Evander Holyfield almost beat Valuev, plus Valuev isn't a champ, he's a paper title holder. A win over Adamek, a frings P4P fighter and the true champion of his weight class, would be MUCH more significant.

Both would be impressive feats, but 5-10 years from now, Adamek is a legit champ and borederline p4p guy at the least and Valuev is a footnote, more interesting in retrospect than he ever was as an active fighter.

You guys don't understand how good Kessler is now. Hopkins won't beat him tho.

Thats because he has not proven it by fighting anyone worth a damn, and when he did he lost.

Would it not be better to go after Dawson. I think that would be better for Legacy. I think Dawson would win but, Im just asking.

Kessler give Calzaghe is toughest fight tho.

Hopkins look tired in championship rounds vs Calzaghe while Kessler was still trying.

Kessler may not be recognize like Taylor or Dawson, but he can beat them both by clear UD.

    #1st Choice, Dawson
    #2 Adamek
#3 Certainly not Valuev. If Hops took that fight I would accuse him of ducking The Klitz and Haye.

You're smoking crack if you don't think Calzaghe-Hopkins was closer than Calzaghe-Kessler.

Regardless, Hopkins isn't moving down to 168, and if he fights Kessler at a catchweight people will just keep complaining that he's beating up on guys who are smaller than he is.

In terms of legacy, beating Dawson MIGHT be better, but it's a crapshoot. Yes, Dawson is ranked higher P4P right now than Adamek, but if he beats Adamek, he'll have been champ at three different weights with a 40 pound swing. Who he beat to do that won't matter as much in the annals of history as the fact that he did it. If Dawson eventually becomes HW champion of the world or a top 3 P4P fighter, then beating Dawson would be more significant, but if he doesn't, then it won't look as impressive if Hops beats him in retrospect.

All that said, I'd still rather see Hopkins fight Dawson.

Valuev despite his size is a but a small stain on the history of boxing. It will quickly be washed away when he inevitably loses his title.
