I only had JMM 1 point up. Diaz was winning the 9th round, the fight was in the balance. That is why the fight was a great one. This was no one-sided affair

Hell no it wasn't one sided!

I had it 4-4 going into the 9th. I think Marquez was starting to dominate the "flavour" of the fight though.

And I think it's one of the best performances of recent times.

It wasn't one-sided but JMM was consistently landing hard counters particularly those uppercuts. He threw them frequently from round 4 onwards and landed consistently. The HBO team seemed to ignore this and favoured Diaz for his aggression and the judges clearly credited him for that also(You probably watched Setantas broadcast being in the UK)Great fight as you say.FOTY contender for sure I imagine Hatton/Pac will be right there aswell

I agree that the commentary team (we didn't get the HBO commentary over here) seemed to favour Diaz.

From what I heard they were even on the scorecards. Same with JMM-Casamayor.

JMM is very skilled, but I can not understand where are all these "JMM is a beast" accolades coming from. You could hardly call his performance total domination, certainly not on the asme domination as in Pac-Barrera 1 & 2 or Pac-Morales 2 & 3 or Pac-Diaz or Pac-DLH.

TBH,I haven't got a major problem with that. You could favour Diaz for his aggression and pressure or Marquez for his precision. It is very subjective I guess. It will always be that way especially with hometown fights.Diaz had the crowd behind him which may have swayed the judges to giving him the close early rounds.

It was a very solid performance, but I would not go that far as to say one of the greatest ever. For that you have to have one of the greatest opponents ever, and Juan Diaz is not.

Ye hes knocking out guys who have never been knocked out before !

I think JMM stands the best chance at beating Pac man.

He dissects his opponents like a ****in surgeon. Technical yet brutal.. That's a true professional prize fighter at work. Yup this is why Marquez is my favorite fighter.

As I stated, the judges had it even at the point of stoppage.....had the fight been an 8 rounder, it have been recorded as a draw, which is hogwash.

Yep. I look forward to both fighters' next fights. Diaz certainly has nothing to be ashamed of. I was a casual fan of his before, but I am a full on supporter now. Can't wait to see him fight again; wish there was more of his kind around the higher weight classes.
