Hopkins/Marquez/Mayweather - Most Skilled IYO?

JMM is good and deserves respect, but this overrating of him after Diaz is rather ridiculous. Hopkins nor Mayweather would have had as hard a time with Diaz as JMM did. I give him credit, but this always happens on the message boards. I am not sure if the fans of the fighters do it or what, but when a guy wins there is this rush to overrating. He had a good win, but beating Diaz is not really a HOF win. It was only 5 pounds up from his previous division against a lower rated guy compared to Pacman. Most people were picking JMM to win.

Hopkins has the most skills overall!!!

 

Hopkins-Greatest the longest. Fought the most very good or great fighters. I think he has a better defense than Mayweather. A good jab bothers Floyd. It does not bother Hopkins. He neutralizes the jab as well as anyone since Whitaker. Floyd does not seem to have too much of a problem with tremendous speed. Hopkins had a little with Jones. Judah bothered him a little bit but he hasn't been in there with a young Roy either. Marquez isn't on these guys level defensively. Not enough head movement and is open for straight shots down the middle.

Offensively it is JMM without a doubt. The better power for his weight class. Timing, accurate, jab, left hook to the body, straight right. This man can do it all. Hopkins was very good in his prime too. He never had the greatest jab but I liked the way he threw the right hand. It was akward, accurate, and has some power. A true overhand right. Floyd was good at 130 and who can forget the check hook but he is not a young Hopkins or JMM offensively.

 

Floyd can handle himself on the inside, outside, all ranges and knows how to hold just as good as bhop if needed. The man been doing boxing since 2. How can you say that he wouldn't be as smart if not more than bhop if he is already visibly more skilled.

Voted for Mayweather but I would probably change it to Hopkins because Floyd it seems more athletic.

One could argue Hopkins has more raw skill than RJJ but Jones prime for prime had more raw talent. Floyd has it all but Hopkins has to rely more on his skill than a prime Jones and Mayweather. Like Ray Leonard, Floyd won't be dominate fighting close to 40.

 

theres no way we could ever compare... floyd will not fight into his 40's... plus floyd has way more mileage on his body... fighting since he was little to amateurs to Olympics.... bhop started later in his career

 

I agree, although Hopkins is not at their level. Hopkins win fights by fighting ugly. He runs, potshots then holds.

 

Marquez is the most technically sound no doubt.

 

PBF is the most skilled. I honestly believe that if he wasn't so athletic, talented & physically gifted, he would still possess great skills.

 

Floyd Mayweather.

 

bhop relies a lot on his dirty tactics. HOLDING is illegial and he violates that constantly. Use your brain and think who have more skill offensively and defensively. hmmm... tough one... one fighter loves throwing right hands to a clinch combo or one who mix it up? again.... yea floyd is not as skilled bc he started boxing when he was 2 while bhop is in his late teens
