Dawson needs to give Johnson a rematch ASAP!

Close fight but Dawson beat him.

I give Johnsons alot of credit for almost beating Dawson but Dawson did just enough to edge it out. I would like to see a rematch though and soon before Johnson is just too old. He does deserve a rematch I think.

 

i had dawson beating johnson and IMO it was quite easy to score.

yes johnson won his rounds big , but that does not win you a fight.
you have to win 7 rounds and IMO johnson did not do this.

would it be a good rematch, yes.
do the styles gell -yes.

dawson is currently top dog in the division IMO but he cannot put bums on seats and is totally relient on tv money being put up because he cannot create any attraction on his own.

with this being the case there is a good chance that dawson v johnson 2 can and will happen because american tv companys only like what they know and johnson is tried and tested , albeit he cannot draw **** all himself.

if they do rematch, expect a wider , easy dawson win.

 

I am still waiting for Glass Jaw Roy Jones to avenge that brutal KO by Johnson. Guess Roy does not want the fight.

 

well said Glen was great, maybe his best ever showing. But he just didn't have the gas to put the younger man away.

Terrific fight, warrants a rematch. When Hopkins goes, Dawson and Johnson are #1 and #2. They'll fight for the #1 position IMO.

Unless Glen goes abroad for Branco-Diaconu winner. Perhaps he'll beat the winner of that fight, bring the WBC title to the table - even more reason to make the fight.

The fight just has to be made thate xtra bit rewarding for Dawson, and that extra bit prestigious for HBO.

 

The fight was close but Dawson won. Glenn hit Dawson with some good shots but Dawson outboxed him easily. As we all know boxing is a business now, so this will be one of those fights that won't take place again because it don't make busine$$ sense. As a fan I would love to see a rematch.

 

You think it'd make business sense if Hops leaves 175 - Who are Ring's top 2 after that? Dawson and Johnson I think. That means they can fight for Ring belt, Dawson can ditch IBF strap & won't have to face Cloud and Woods.

I hope Branco beats Diaconu for WBC title. Johnson-Branco 2. Branco beat Johnson for WBU strap years ago. Johnson out of shape, lost his way, loses close but fair fight in Italy. Hopefully this fight happens, GJ gets revenge like he got over Judah...then has a WBC/IBF unification with Dawson, another revenge fight. Has Johnson got it in him to do this potential scenario?

OR wait for GJ to get beaten!

 

He deserves a rematch but he's not going to get one. Johnson is high risk/low reward. If Dawson's team is smart, (and i'm sure they are), they stay clear of Johnson. If Dawson has some balls, he would give Johnson a rematch to settle the score.

Branco got a gift vs Johnson!I had it 118-111,the italian commentators had it for Johnson WIDE,after the fight the whole crowd was booing Branco while his brother was trying to calm them down.:rofl

I watched it. Johnson out of shape, started nicely, then totally off balance, no legs, let the fight slip away.

Branco didn't get a gift. Maybe Johnson stole it by a couple but honestly it was so poor and so scruffy and Johnson was not very effective after dominating early. Yes he may have had an edge due to good start but honestly his boxing was terrible as the fight went on.

Johnson did the same with Ottke, the same with Sheika - great start, mid rounds fade. I can only surmise that he was out of shape and taking the fights on late notice, jet lagged to boot.

Glen has been robbed a few times but he is the Boy Who Cried Wolf of boxing. Everone believes him when he says he was robbed vs Harmon (no way), Sosa (no way), Gonzalez (ok, give you that one), Judah 1 (bad decision), etc etc.

 

Anyone who think Johnson beat Dawson didn't score the fight. FACT.

The fight is pretty easy to score and if you come up with anything but 7-5 or 8-4 for Dawson you don't know how to score a fight or you are completely blind. Johnson won two of his round huge and then won two other clearly. Dawson on the other hand also won 7 rounds CLEARLY.

Johnson had two good rounds early and two good rounds late and everyone seems to forget that Dawson dominated the middle rounds.

Sorry Dawson won it. Should they rematch?? Yes they should if Dawson cant get a better fight after the Tarver rematch he should definitly fight Johnson again.

 

Dawson showed he had balls to take the first fight when he didn't need to.

A rematch would be good to watch.

The more lucrative rematch will be against Adamek though.

 

It's too bad scoring a fight is subjective isn't it? Or we could just go by what you had to say as "fact". There was a poll conducted on this board right after the fight and i think maybe 60% of people thought Johnson won.

The really sad part about all of this is that all three judges had it 8-4. I guess they like pretty faces better. :dead
