I think what tricks people sometimes is how the rounds are won; Johnson usually won his rounds bigger, but he never succeeded in getting the knockdown or two he needed to to compensate for Chad doing just a bit more in the majority of them overall. Johnson landed the more damaging shots as a whole, but Chad did enough over the course of the fight to get a tough decision. I don't have my exact scorecard, but I remember scoring it 7-5 Dawson. I could've seen a draw, but I just couldn't find 7 rounds that Johnson clearly deserved to win. It's the kind of fight where a rematch would've done a nice job of tying up loose ends, but that's politics for you.
no but if those flashy combinations were landing regularly as some say then there should be some sign of wear and tear but johnson has none he took he a lot of shots on the forearms and gloves
Its comical to call that fight a robbery. I had Dawson up 7-5 and scoring the fight for Johnson would be understandable but to say it was a bad decision would be inaccurate. I'd like to see a rematch and its a lot better than the Tarver rematch but Tarver had a rematch clause so we're stuck with that unwanted fight. There's not a lot to choose from at light heavyweight right now for Dawson so I think we might get a second Dawson-Johnson fight eventually. Johnson is in a position similar to JMM and Pacquaio. Both Johnson and JMM need to keep winning against solid opposition to keep the demand for a rematch alive. Eventually, if they keep winning, then they will probably get their rematches.
I had Johnson up by a point but I could see the fight going either way. Let's all stop crying robbery everytime there's a close fight.
Dawson has to fight mandatory Tavoris Cloud after he beats Tarver. What's worse about Dawson's situation is that his fight with Taver is delayed. Most likely he will only be fighting two times this year, Taver and Cloud.
