Then with all the respect to the late and great Sugar Ray Robinson, Bernard Hopkins becomes the greatest fighter of all time !

You can't beat a resume that includes 20 title defenses and being undisputed champ at 160, being the real champ at 175, being the real champ at 200, and being a heavyweight titlist while fighting most your career at around 156-158.
Not to mention Bernard was never been cut, beat up, knocked out or dominated in the ring. Only one clear loss (while he was very green) in a career that lasted 20 years, well into his forties. Never came close to losing in his prime.
    B-Hop, make us proud !

i dont think there is a single greatest boxer of all time but it would certainly catapult him very high into the upper echelons

If Hopkins were to do that, then you would have to make an amazing argument to not make him P4P (at least) the greatest ever.

If he were to beat Adamek and Wlad, then I'd see a ranking like that. Beating the Chag-Valuev winner would be a tremendous win, but it'd take a win over the #1 Heavy for him to get #1 type of consideration for me anyways. It's not like top 10-20 is anything to sneeze at, though!

Those who say top 15 are pure haters. How can you say there are 14 boxers with a better resume ? Hopkins will be an undisputed top 10 of all time if he gets those two wins, especially considering his age.

why do you people think handpicking the worst Heavyweight beltholder for a lower weight fighter to face is such an accomplishment?

Why not do it like Fitzsimmons did and fight THE Heavyweight Champion not the worst of the beltholders.

no. simply because all time rankings are not, and should not, be based on perceived accomplishments or resume alone. Bernard Hopkins is a great fighter, incredible even, but I would not rank him in the top 10 all time even then simply because, personally, speaking, I see at least 10 other fighters with a greater COMBINATION of skills, resume, staying power and that indefinable attribute. Great to be sure but no wins at this point can overcome the fact that he is workmanlike and efficient (a la Monzon) but not SPECTACULAR.

Well, maybe he is not spectacular lately, but who looks spectacular at the age of 40 plus ? Tere is no way you can name 10 more skilled fighters than Hopkins. Bernard's only weakness is that he is not the best athlete out there, but his skill and knowledge in the ring, as well as his staying power, are second to none.

Good question, he'd be top 10 easily, top 5 IMO - greatest is very tough to debate, though he'd be posting quite a compelling case.

Won't fight Chagaev. Would fight Valuev though. Even then, he will be top 10 IMO. He's top 15 on my list as of now.
