Put this on the GF by mistake...

One of my mates just completed this as part of a sports journalism course.

    Any thoughts...

Michael Sprott is set to make a return to Britain, hoping to challenge heavyweight prospect Tyson Fury. The former British champion has largely been plying his trade on the continent, impressing with some brave performances against future world champions.

But Sprott now sees the young prospect as the perfect platform to relaunch an assault on British and European titles. "If you look at my record you'll see two things. One, I've been in with some big names and two, I specialise in beating prospects."

"After the Skelton loss, I felt the best way to a European title would be to travel on the continent. I got some great wins against some highly touted guys, but then I would get robbed in eliminator battles so it was one step forward two steps back!"

"I honestly believe that I have the ability to win a European title and maybe challenge for a world title when I bring my A game. I can certainly teach this loudmouth kid with the fortunate name a lesson. After him, I'd like Derek Chisora and then whoever holds the British title - probably either Williams or McDermott."

"Hopefully I can get all that done and Rogan will still be Commonwealth Champion. I'd love a tear up with him and then, if anyone can bare to watch it, someone needs to get Skelton out of the picture for good and I'd love it to be me!"

"With the European you get a world ranking and from there, who knows? All I know is that with a good plan and some good results you can get yourself places. People will say I'm being over-ambitious, but it's about time one Heavyweight showed some balls and put it out there."

Sprott is a bit deluded if he thinks he can challenge for a world title (unless hand picked), it will be incredibly difficult for him to just win the commonwealth title, because he is very much just a gatekeeper for domestic boxing now.

He has a chance against Fury, however the size difference could be a big factor, but also inexperience is a factor.

Audley Harrison would beat Michael Sprott in a rematch....

    No he wouldn't.

Audley is now mentally the ***** of anyone who stands up to him.

PS don't give the "they don't just hand out olympic gold medals line. It's been done to death.

Fury is doing ok but with only 3 fights under his belt he is not ready for Sprott or Audley.Fury needs to improve in many areas before moving up to that level of opponent.Rushing him would just result in him being beaten by fighters he may be able to beat if he is allowed to develop his skills properly.

yeah i agree, fury's not ready for this level yet (they need to get his head out the clouds first!) sprott, skelton, even audley would beat him right now. he's massively over-rated right now, why the big rush? what happened to letting fighters progress naturally? but then, his arrogance annoys me, so yeah, throw him in with sprott, rogan, skelton or harrison, and lets see what he's got. cos so far he's shown us nothing. unless you count poor ring craft, a lack of defence/ combination punching, etc. the only thing he does have is confidence, and if thats all it takes these days then i'd better take my 7 year old son down the gym later and start shouting my mouth off about how he's gonna be the next big thing.

Fury would admit that he isn't ready for Sprott yet - I reckon his remarks are often tongue in cheek.

I would stick him in with Harrison tomorrow though.

Sprott is a seasoned pro. Fury is still a 6 rounder. Fury needs to step up to 8 in his next bout and 10 after that. I would be very impressed if Fury fought Sprott next.

fury has a poor defence and crap stamina, get those sorted out in his next 5 t 6 fights and then step up the compitiion

he is actualy talented and has proved that over his last 3 fights, but he has some awful habits

Agreed but he does seem to be working on his fitness. Some decent sparring partners would soon make him realise his defence needs to tighten up.

He's a 3 fight novice, I'm willing for now to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Why not? If he backs up his talk we've got a top heavyweight if not we can have a laugh. Come on Fury.

maybe a new trainer would be beneficial to the development of his defence and ring craft, dont you think? :good

Yes but he strikes me a guy who's hard to train.

I think he needs a trainer who can gain his trust and respect really early or else he'll say **** it i'm doing what I want.
