First of all props to both fighters for fighting there hearts out and gave us fans a great fight.

Now JMM has stopped a very good veteran fighter that was never knocked out before in Joel Casamayor.

And now a young hungry bull in Juan Diaz a fighter that the bigger Nate Campbell couldn't stop... so i ask is this Marquez best weight class?

Yes. 140 and higher might be just a bit too much to handle especially at his age. Pacman and Mayweather at 140, maybe even Hatton at 140 lbs might be too much for him to handle. He should close out his career at 135 as the undisputed LW champion. I cant see any lightweights out there right now that can beat him except maybe Anthony Peterson but he wont be ready to fight Marquez for another 18 months - 2 years and by that time he may be retired.

JMM did an excellent job and both fighters put on quite a show! Diaz is still young and will make a comeback. I had JMM losing going into that round on the cards. JMM always does extremely well in the middle and later rounds though.

IMO at 135 JMM is the best, hands down, right now. 140 is a different story. Weight can make a difference. Look at Hatton at 147.

What I want to see is a match between JMM and the winner of Hatton/Manny at 140. That will resolve the difference of opinions between all of us.

Even if Manny loses I would still like to see both fight at 135 or 140 (doesn't matter to me). A trilogy to end JMM's and Manny illustrious careers would be a delight all of us would love to see.

That's what i was also thinking will he get stronger moving up or will it be to much for him cause he did said that he was going up to 140 but we will soon find out.

True i dont see nobody beating him at that weight not even Nate Campbell if he still can make 135.

As for the fighters you name i dont know how he would look against them we will soon find out how good will he be at 140 when he moves up.

True, but i dont even see him beating Marquez at that weight but unless he is done... time is running out for Marquez i hope he still have some more great fight's in him.

    tough question to answer tbh...

i think 126lbs. is his prime weight (since he stayed there for a long time during his younger years), although given his frame he was able to move up at lw without any problems and what's more surprising was that his power and his punch resistance increased. I'd probably say his ideal weight is 135 lbs.

tbh, i am also not sure about jmm's prime years. that's how great he is

At this stage of his career 135 is the best weight for him. Diaz, who is not a big puncher at 135, was able to stagger him early with a left hook. Had any of the big punching JWW's landed the same punch it could have very well ended the fight or at least knocked him down. Unless JMM can get a big money fight against Pac or Hatton, he should definitely stay at 135 and defend his titles. There's enough quality fighters and up and comers for JMM to get some pretty good fights as a light weight where he is recognized as the best.

i'd certainly say so, but...135 imo has the biggest talent pool: Guzman, Valero, Katsidis, Funeka, Juan Diaz, Cassamayor, Peterson, Khan, Julio Diaz, David Diaz, maybe even Barrera and i'm sure there are some other fighters who i haven't seen that might even be on par with the others i've named like Pitaula or Moses

they're are plent of fights for Marquez to build a huge legacy with, but only if he wants too, they'res no shame in the man chasing big pay days IMO, i'd say he deserves it, but if he wants surpass the resumes of the other great mexican fighters and Pac, i'd say he stay at 135 and conquer all challengers

if he beat even half of those people i named, he'd have a hell of a ****in resume, so yeah...i'm hoping he stays at LW, actually...but i do want to see him fight Pac or Hatton at 140 by the end of this year for a good payday, but after that, i'd want him to go back to 135

For now, 135 may be the best weight for him, at 140 or higher, his opponents will be bigger and stronger than him. As to performance, he was way better at 126 or 130.:good

126 was his best and natural weight, but he fought more defensively. It was only after the Chris john fight that he became aggressive and pretty much started going for the kill. He wasn't content to go to the judges decision anymore.
