Losing a fight does not remove one's 'elite' status.

(Ali was still elite after he lost to Norton)

If the term has any meaning, Diaz is elite.

Same cannot be said for either of Gatti or Ward.

But their three fights, especially their first one, are among the best I've seen.

I think we migh be getting into semantics here.

We have different outlooks on what constitutes "skilled"

I believe SRL was born with more God-given boxing talent (Poor choice of word perhaps, as I'm an atheist) than Duran, but Duran, for whatever reason, had more heart and more cojones. (Not saying SRL didn't have an abundance of both, just Duran had more !)

Maybe it had to do with their respective upbringings. (Middle class vs slums).

Floyd is in my Golden 6 and JCC is not. Again, a difference of emphasis, most likely.

I would rank JCC higher on my ATG list than Floyd.

And of the fab four, I rank them Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler.

He is a top lightweight now, which is not really that great. I think he is a good fighter, but to say he is elite takes away from what I think is elite. Elite would be JMM and Pacman or Mayweather or Hopkins. That cream of the crop bunch who are good enough to beat the top guys or compete with everyone. An elite fighter would not crumble that way against JMM or anyone. Once he had adversity Diaz lasted one more round after doing well earlier.

funny thing about the fab four is that Hagler is ranked lower but he beat duran, ktfo hearns and was robbed against srl.

its hard to split these four, but Hagler prime and only weight was miidle, the other 3 primed at welter and in durans case maybe lower, this may be the reasin some people have hagler lower than srl and duran but i wouldnt argue either way.:think
