There is no way hatton goes to p4p number 1 though, no way to justify it at all.

Well yes it does seem hard to get your head round hatton being number 1, but its justify'd if he beats the best boxer on the planet IMO.

well fair enough mate, it makes a change from being slated for my opinions!! but as there is no written law as such as to how the p4p rankings work then nobody can be right or wrong!

The thing is though p4p rankings have been going for years and they have never been used in the method you are mentioned.

you cant say someone is the best fighter on the planet on the basis of one fight! Pacquaio could have an off day and Hatton connects with a lucky punch! P4P also indicates you could beat a number of diff opponents and their styles, one fight does not show this!

Pacquaio has consistently beaten the best, Hatton has not.....end of story

But a win for hatton would go a long way to getting him to P4P #1

ricky is a gbp fighter so oscar saying this is no different than ricky saying he will be the new p4p #1. what is good for ricky $$$wise is good for oscar $$$wise. to that end...i posted this in response to the thread from the other day on why ricky keeps saying he will be p4p king if he beats pac:

"he is promoting his fight and trying to make the most money possible. it is a huge fight and he is trying to make it as big as possible. not only that, but he is preemptively promoting his next fight as well. if he can beat pac (not a sure thing either), there will have been a steady chorus of "if i beat him i'll be the #1 p4p king" the entire time. we all know ricky wants pbf again (i can't see how the fight will be different), and i cannot see pbf letting someone he skull dragged around the ring saying "if i beat pac...if i beat pac...if i beat pac...now i did so i am best." pbf would probably fight ricky again just to put him in his place and another fight is just what ricky wants. its shameless marketing but from a $$ standpoint its not unexpected"

the reason ricky said it is the same reason oscar is saying it. shamelessly promoting ricky's next fight right now by saying what he's saying and for oscar, thats not just unexpected but rather its to be expected.

Yes that is true. It is just my opinion that if the best fighter in the world is beaten, then its only right that whoever beats the best in the world should be ranked higher. I think the debatable aspect is how far down the rankings the ex best goes.

yes i see what your saying, but its not that important if its a lucky punch or not, a win is a win.

oh yeah, and not so sure about pac has always beaten the best and hatton hasnt. I think for starters, Kostya Tszyu is better than any opponent pac has faced. im not sure you could say daid diaz was the best or oscar de la hoya.

Manny has fought barrerra and morales 3 times, and marquez twice!!3 ATG's!Tsyzu was past his best and pretty in-active when hatton fought him.

also P4P goes by performances, so a lucky win would not do much!now if Hatton Ko's manny in round 4 after brutally beating him for the previous rounds, then maybe he has a case for P4P #1....
