To say his jaw is decent is a touch flattering. He knows if he gets hit by Wladimir flush he will go down, maybe for the count. He has said so himself but you're right, its bull**** to use the term glass

I think people refer to his chin as glass because he moved to HW where there are bigger guys who can crack. Haye so far have suspected chin because he was floored a few times. If his offensive skills wouldn't be so good he would be stopped more times due to chin.

The rightful estimate of the chin level is based on the punch strength delivered to the chin. Since weaker guys made a case for his chin to be shaken a few times it means the stronger guys will prove its really a glass one.

    I feel you. :good

I'd say 95% of the population of the world takes a flush shot from Wlad and goes down for the count.

Nothing wrong with that. Wlad would probably put me in a coma for a week with a flush shot. I'm just trying to understand the glass chin statements about Haye. I've seen maybe 4-5 of his fights, so I didnt understand where the glass chin **** was coming from.

He was heavily dehydrated going into the Mormeck fight as well though... apparently he had to lose 10lbs in something silly like 2-3 days. Plus Mormeck isn't exactly feather fisted. The Thompson stoppage was more due to cardio than chin but the people that don't like his big mouth have got to have something to have a dig at him about

I would say it has more to do with his reflexes and the fact his jaw is in fact not glass that he hasn't been stopped apart from once by exhaustion. Macaranelli has been clocked punching with 3 tonnes of force and landed a big right hand on Haye in their fight and Haye didn't flinch... that to me isn't a glass jaw

My point was he never took that shot on the chin.Sure it doesn't look good but it doesn't matter how much you weigh and what your KO% is,if somebody hits you on the temple it will scramble you for sure

Any fighter can get knocked out. It's not as if people get Rhino skull implants.

Because most boxing fans aren't very bright when it comes to analyzing fights and fighters. They don't realize that aggressive fighters have a tendency to be more vulnerable to a knockdown or knockout. It's a lot easier to take a punch when you are playing defense and watching everything come at you. The label of "glass chin" gets thrown around WAY too much when discussing top notch fighters. Some fighters have holes in their defense. Some fighters have balance issues. Some fighters are too aggressive. Some fighters just got caught by a really good punch that the didn't see coming. However, no matter what the circumstance the fickle boxing fans love to credit every knockdown or knockout to having a glass chin. As if the only thing that creates knockdowns or knockouts in the sport of boxing is a glass chin on the receiving end. There is no point in having accuracy, great timing, or great punching power... because the only people who get knocked out according to most fans are fighters without a chin anyways.

Good points in the first half of the novel.
Glass jaw is used too much so fighters like Amir Khan don't get the credit they really deserve.
