hes so direspectful of mayorga is unreal, mayora competes at the top and cause hes not a fighter style in mannys eyes thens hes a **** druggie
Get off your soap box. This is a a VERY subjective sport. As far as im concerned i find Manny very unimpressive as this heralded trainer and i think he`s **** on HBO. Thats my opinion after watching Boxing for the last 20 years. If you dont like it stick it in your pipe and smoke it. This is an internet forum where guys like us argue over our sport. Thats what we do. If you dont like it sign out.
Wow before you talk trash about a trainer who has done a lot about the sport not with just training but owning a boxing gym "Kronk Gym" in Detroit you need to get your facts straight...Steward was not Wladimir Klitschko's trainer during the corrie sanders fight. It was a matter of fact the last time Wladimir was trained with Fritz Sdunek who currently trains Vitali. It is one thing to not like Emanuel Steward but its another thing to say he is a horrible trainer. He takes boxers and fine turnes them into killing machines. People consider Angelo Dundee one of the best trainers but other than Muhammed Ali he doesn't really have any other big names. Maybe one or two. Steward has his own stable of fighters that he has produced over the years and continues.
Taylors a killing machine? Did he turn Naz into one too? I dont remember that.. What about Cintron? Is he a killer too?
I wouldn't bother counting naz as he wasn't really training anyway. In regards to steward i think he is excellent at training a certain kind of fighter, as an example i think if audley harrison had been trained by steward he would have done alot more (not a great champ or anything juts alot better). I think his training style suits taller fighters with good power and maybe not the best skills or defence.
Taylor no because Taylor wouldn't listen to him at all and if you watch the old fights of when Steward and him were together you can hear Steward screaming at him not to stay on the ropes and fight in the middle where he was doing better and what does Taylor do...he stays on the ropes and loses. Cintron is a very good fighter...lets look at who he has lost to....ANTONIO MARGARITO...his only two loses were to him. Not to shabby right? So I will have to agree with my previous statement.
Stewrds record as a trainer in Heavyweight Title fights is like 26-3. That is pretty impressive to me. People often forget he was McCall's trainer when he beat Lennox and then trained Lennox to beat McCall in the next fight. Manny's style is not for every fighter. He was all wrong for Jermain Taylor as an example.
Exactly Spadafora...Manny can only really work with fights who have discipline inside and out of the ring. For instance all of his fighters now are dedicated to working out all the time. Andy Lee for example is alwasy in top shape, Wladimir, Banks, and Lewis was always training hard and when they weren't in showed. For example Lewis vs Rahman 1 and Lewis vs Vitali even though he won that fight some coudl argue he could have lost that fight.
Well I saw a completely different fight to all of the people you just mentioned, I think Diaz was getting hit with shots that would eventually make him think twice about rushing in and if you watch the fight again the momentum changed from the 4th round onwards, Marquez had already broken this dudes heart by then, he wasn't steaming in so much due to the counters and also knowing he was blowing a bit and wanted to catch a lil breather inbetween his flurry attempts to then eat up more of Marquez's counter punches, from the 4th round I predicted a stoppage after 6 rounds, thats how I saw that fight, and look what happened. Not a bad nights work eh? With regards to Manny, he is only good at training good fighters, Johnathon Banks didn't do to great did he, its because he has **** balance and Emanuel should have corrected this if he was such a good trainer, hes not the best trainer, he is only good at improving fighters who already have the talent.
He doesn't have bad balance i was 3 rows from the ring at the adamek fight. His combinations were ugly and accuracy wasn't good. Manny was not in the corner at the fight it was Bashir. Bashir is Banks number one trainer. Manny just over see's how everthing is going. Think of it this way no trainer can make a diamond. EVERY single trainer takes a diamond in the ruff and makes it into something that everyone likes too see.
Exactly and the reason is because his balance was all off, watch the fight on Tv and you will see, when he was moving he looked scatty, I can see when a fighter has good balance, he just looked awkward so obviously that lead to the combination punching and accuracy being off, it all starts with having good balance to be able to throw your shots so everything is co-ordinated. I am not disagreeing with the diamond in the ruff theory because it is true but my personal opinion is, he has too many fighters and he cannot concentrate all his time into all of them. It's like having 6 kids you just cant find the time to pay attention to all of them all the time, you would become totally drained as they are demanding of attention, boxers are demanding of quality training sessions. I think most times the trainers who do better are the ones who have less fighters to worry about and thus more quality time spent training with the fighters. Floyd has had Roger most of his career, but I have seen some of Roger's other fighters, Wes Ferguson, Richard Abril, these kids can box good but I just think its a matter of talent and a trainer can only do so much so to defend Manny, he will always have his work cut out no matter what.
What about the Vera fight? Manny prepared Lee for a 5 round fight and then Lee gassed when it went longer.Didn't this also happen to Wlad against Brewster? Manny is over confident in his fighters and often arrogant.I like the man personally but i think he is a tad overrated
True I do agree with you on the too many fighters...that is why luckily Wladimir is his main man right now. But back to the Adamek fight I think it was Adameks aggressiveness that made Banks so awkward. After the 4th round you could tell easily that Tomasz was more comfortable than Banks was. I just don't think Banks went in with a game plan.
ah and how can we all forget Micky Goodwin who Steward trained...great fighter who passed away today.
