he offered to fight mosley before and that was twice, mosley turned him down. floyd doesn't like to be rejected sorry
"For me to fight PBF, I need 10 million dollars guaranteed. I'm Sugar Shane Mosley. So what if he's 2 weight divisions lower than me, I still need 10 million. But man, my tooth hurts, and I need a vacation, I'm trying to spend time with my family." "I feel you Shane. Me, I need 10 million guaranteed too. But my team says I need another year and a half to be ready to fight Mayweather."
No disputing that these are all quality fights. The point is if PBF is indeed the best welter, if he is indeed the best fighter p4p then he needs to prove himself worthy of that title against the most worthiest opponents. He campagned at 147 for the last couple of years and was given that title without fighting the best fighters. Cotto, Shane, PTP, and Margo could all stake claim to the best welter over the last few years and PBF has yet to fight any of them. People don't accept a champion who refuses to fight the best and that is the simple truth.
Listen up man, Floyd is Skilled there is no doubt about that but Let me put this another way. Floyd's refusal to fight the best in the sport now is the equivalent of Michael Jordan refusing to play against other good basketball players in fear of getting made to look bad or normal because of the level of opposition, being high enough to match him on every level, maybe even making up for lack of skill set with, other mental and physical attributes, i.e. heart, determination, will, excellent physical condition, right mental state, gameplan, etc. Get this through your thick Skull, Floyd will never take a fight where another fighter has the ability to make him look bad.
lol who cares if Shane rejected the fight? How many times did Floyd reject Margarito? Hell, Floyd told Margo when Margo confronted him that they would eventually meet in the ring. I'm pretty sure Floyd would get the same amount if not more if the fight was made now against Mosley. It's not like he would be fighting for peanuts.
DLH was considered to be the best fighter out there at the time when he fought. Now that he's retired, he's not obligated to fighting anyone. But let me ask you a question. Would you fight a very popular guy for 25 million dollars, or would you fight a not so popular guy for 8 million dollars?
The only way PBF fights someone who can possibly beat him is if he fights someone who's bigger than him(PW)
And let me ask you a question, who were these people telling you that DLH was the best, was it casual fans or true boxing followers because any true boxing follower at that time could have seen straight up that oscar was a ****ing part time fighter, dont be fooled by the Mayorga win. I dont know what type of a fan you are but I am a realist and I see things for what they are. Over here in the UK every true boxing follower knew Oscar didn't have what it took to trouble Floyd.
This is the best summation of this thread and the rest of all the nuthugging threads on this whole board. Mostly the sufferers of MBID.
So are we talking about the best or the most paid now? I don't blame him for fighting Oscar because it represented as the biggest fight of PBF's career from both a money and a exposure perpective. But does beating Oscar constitute PBF as the best fighter when clearly there are better fighters who are in their prime at the weight that he's campaigning in who he hasn't fought? PBF might just very well be the best but he clearly hasn't tested himsellf against the best which again is my central point. And if he hasn't proved himself against the best in the weight that he's campaigning in then does that really make him the best?
Really? I mean come on, REALLY? DLH was a part time fighter. If I had Floyd's skills I would have whipped Margo for 8+ the rest and then taken 25 for Oscar.
paul williams was a welterweight at the time and he was making the weight mayweather was campaigning at welterweight and he had the pound for pound best in the sport title so is it me or am i ****ing dreaming here but doesn't that normally mean that by being pound for pound best that you have to fight the best in order to hold onto this p4p status. Anyone can win a title but a true champion defends that title, how many times has floyd defended titles at 147 by fighting top welterweights back to back ??????????????????????????
