Dirrell is fighting David Banks later this month. At this rate, when is he likely to start fighting world class level opposition, say, someone like Miranda or Green, because it looks like he is far off fighting someone in the top 10?
If Showtime/HBO would refuse to let him fight guys like Banks on their network he would have no choice but to step up the level of his opposition. Unfortunately, it seems like he's getting "carte blanche" from Showtime. Networks turn down shitty opponents all the time. They obviously dropped the ball in this case.
In that case, after Banks, he'll fight Spina, then Brinkley, then Codrington. He'll be 27 pushing on 28 by then. Do you think they'll step him up against a Miranda or a Green level opponent at this time? If he's lucky, he'll be matched for a top 10 opponent before he's 30.
dont know and dont care im more interested in anthony he hits way harder and overcoming his fight with cancer shows he's a real warrior
The Banks fight is disappointing but he is probably just playing it safe and biding his time until a title shot, which he is already in line for. Now that he's ranked in the top 5 by a couple of the sanctioning bodies, he'll probably be getting a lot of soft touches until he gets his chance at a belt holder.
That's very dangerous for him. He won't improve if he doesn't step up. Then, he will face a champion. From Banks to a champ, that's a very big step. Unless his coach is smart and disciplined enough to work on his flaws even if he faces an "easy" opponent. What I saw of Dirrell suggests it is not the case.
Who can he beat?Kessler,Bute,Andrade,Bika,Froch,Taylor all beat him and probbaly there are more.Guys like Green,Miranda,Inkin,Balzsay would probbaly at least give him a hard fight.
Good post, laffie.:good You hit it right on the head.:good I'd only add that if the refs are going to continue to stop fights early for him just so that he gets a high KO ratio, it won't help him find out what a 12 round fight can really be like either...
you guys do know he isn't gonna stand in front of andrade and let him bounce shots off his head like the other guy did right?
Yeah, but he won't be able to run for the entire 12 rounds...Andrade does eventually catch up with runners.:yep
you seen his record right? ..you realize like a 3rd of the fights ended in ko or tko right? ..hardly a runner man
